Read my spoiler-free movie review of Jurassic World – Rebirth (2025).

Directed by Gareth Edwards and set five years after Jurassic World Dominion (2022), Jurassic World Rebirth is the next instalment in the Jurassic Park movie franchise.

Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali and Rupert Friend, the time is coming for a mission to extract DNA for a groundbreaking medical breakthrough.

‘We put ourselves in a place where we don’t belong. Survival is a long shot.’

It would seem I already have my favourite line in a movie that hasn’t yet been released. I like the delivery and the actor saying the words. Words that remind me of what people say about those who kick beehives. I’ll do my best to prevent schadenfreude from taking over when death inevitably comes to at least one of the people ‘disturbing’ the dinosaurs.

Generally speaking, is it me, or does the dialogue seem rather promising? In fact, it all looks rather good, doesn’t it? The music, visual effects, acting, all of it.

Bechir Sylvain, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda and Ed Skrein also star.

Caught Stealing is the latest Darren Aronofsky film starring Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Liev Schreiber and Bad Bunny.

The crime/comedy/thriller has Butler as a young man suddenly embroiled in a struggle to survive in 1990s New York City.

I like how unexpected this is as an Aronofsky film. The reasonably fast pace also appeals, and I can’t deny that something about this reminds me of my favourite of Guy Ritchie’s movies, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) and Snatch (2000), of course

The Better Sister is a new 8-part drama/mystery/thriller starring Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Biel and Corey Stoll.

Biel (Chloe) and Banks (Nicky) play sisters whose long-hidden family secrets are unveiled in the wake of the murder of Chloe’s husband.

I’m always extra impressed when actors cast as siblings look like they could be related in real life; Biel and Banks, for example.

I’ve taken a couple of good guesses at how The Better Sister may play out. It would be nice to be surprised. Either way, bring on the sisterly dynamics, especially considering these two have always been fun to watch.

Fun isn’t exactly what comes to mind at the idea of the political leaders of the UK & US having to work together. Unless, of course, John Cena is the American president and Idris Elba is the prime minister of the United Kingdom, as in director Ilya Naishuller’s action/thriller, Heads of State.

The reason for the partnership is a common foreign adversary for whom they find themselves a target.

‘Not in the movies now, son.’

I anticipate this will be ‘silly fun’ like G20 (2025), but hopefully with more giggles. Amazon may be in a season of ‘presidential movies’, and I’m not mad about it.

Is this silliness something you can see yourself gravitating towards at some point? The answer for me is a definite yes.

Priyanka Chopra, Jack Quaid, Paddy Considine, Carla Gugino, Stephen Root, Amber Rose Revah, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle, Steven Cree and Clare Foster also star.

From writer/director Zach Cregger, Weapons is a new horror/mystery/thriller about the disappearance of high school students in a small town.

Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, June Diane Raphael, Benedict Wong and Austin Abrams are among the key cast.

Undeniably creepy and terrifying are the words. Even more so, considering the very specific/strange run. Yes, I’ll likely only watch the trailers and not the movie because of the horror of it all.

Yet, I remain drawn to the mystery and strong It (2017) vibes this is giving. Whether or not I watch it, I’m intent on finding out how different It and Weapons are when compared.

The non-teaser trailer is now out, and no, I’m definitely not sitting through this movie. Still, for the true horror fans, this looks rather promising, right?

Amy Madigan, Alden Ehrenreich, Toby Huss, Melissa Ponzio, Jason Turner, Aaron Quick Nelson, Jared Simon, Jared Simon, Carl Kennedy and Khalani Simon-Barrow also star.
