I’m always glad to see Greg Kinnear’s name on a cast list because I know that most of the time, an emotionally rich performance is coming my way. Stuck In Love (2012) is one such example. In Little Men, Kinnear is playing a grieving, struggling actor with grown up issues that are threatening his 13 year old son’s great new friendship…

I’m looking forward to finding out how the offspring in this story deal with their parent’s issues and shortcomings because they’re very much caught in the middle.

Directed by Ira Sachs; Alfred Molina, Theo Taplitz, Michael Barbieri, Jennifer Ehle, and Talia Balsam make up some of the key cast.

Little Men Release Dates: August 5th, 2016 (US)…

Directed by Billy Ray; Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Alfred Molina are the stars of Secret In Their Eyes. A story about a group of FBI Investigators; a close-knit team for whom everything changes when they learn the identity of the victim of their new murder case.

Ray’s movie follows the events and decisions that end up leading to a surprising, yet understandable conclusion, the revelation of which is a key highlight.

Seeing evidence of the depth of the friendships between the main protagonists – before, during and after the central crime, that is the thing I enjoyed most about Secret In Their Eyes . One more great moment would have been when the audience learns of  the victim’s identity. But…! that little nugget was unfortunately given away for free in the film’s trailer.

Secret In Their Eyes could have been a better movie . The cast performed well but I think they were let down by post production, namely what felt like an awkward overuse of flashback and the trailer edit.

There’s a new Tina Fey comedy and it’s not Sisters (2015).

Starring Fey, Alfred Molina, Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton, Whiskey, Tango Foxtrot tells the story of Kim Barker (Fey), a US journalist stationed in Afghanistan and Pakistan…

I really must first give full points for the music in this trailer. It does a great job of setting the tone.

Generally, what I’m most excited about here is the humour, which I think will work as an antidote to the tension-filled Kilo Two Bravo (2014), (another war region movie) vibe.

My fingers  are crossed that this one works, especially since the last comedy set in Afghanistan (Rock the Kasbah (2015) apparently didn’t do so well.
