Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Black Panther – Wakander Forever (2022).

Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright and Martin Freeman are back for director Ryan Coogler’s long awaited second Black Panther movie, Black Panther – Wakanda Forever.

Due to nervousness about sadness that could have resurfaced because of Chadwick Boseman’s absence from a cast he led so very well, I paused before hitting play on this promising trailer.

However, luckily for me and likely anyone who appreciated what Boseman did as Black Panther, I find myself comforted by the very well-chosen trailer song.

Now I can’t wait to see this movie, and the tribute it will undoubtedly be to the man who portrayed T’Challa to perfection.

Additional cast includes Tenoch Huerta, Dominique Thorne, Winston Duke, Michaela Coel, Aleks Alifirenko Jr., Shalet Monique, Isaach De Bankolé and Gigi Bermingham.

Black Panther – Wakanda Forever Release Dates: 11th November 2022 (UK & US)…

ODE TO JOY (2019): The Things I Liked…

Ode To Joy (2019), Morena Baccarin, Jake Lacy
Ode To Joy (2019), Morena Baccarin, Jake Lacy

Starring Martin Freeman, Morena Bacarrin, Jake Lacy and Melissa Rauch, I laughed several times during Jason Winer’s latest comedy, Ode To Joy. In fact, thanks to a number of fresh jokes I didn’t quite see coming, I can say that Ode To Joy is responsible for some of my most memorable funny movie moments of 2019.

At the heart of the story is Charlie (Freeman), a man who experiences sudden paralysis every time he feels strong emotions – mainly joy. Having developed several techniques for avoiding too much happiness and pleasure over time, things of course get quite complicated for Charlie when he falls in love.

Much of the good comedy in Ode To Joy happens as we learn about the uniqueness of Charlie’s experience of living with his condition, and this is when the film shines most for me. As such, I admit that I found myself wishing that the balance had shifted more in favour of comedy than it did. Especially since when I wasn’t laughing, I was noticing the cliches, imperfections and moments when the suspension of my disbelief was failing.

Overall, I’m still happy I watched Ode To Joy because of the humour mostly, but also because of the unexpected revelation that occurred to me as the movie played. In other words, the fact that there are many joy inducing moments (or in Charlie’s case ‘traps’) out there in the world as we go about our day; if we just pay attention.

Other joy inducing moments I experienced courtesy of Ode To Joy include Baccarin’s character’s relationship with her aunt, Charlie’s connection with his brother and last but not least, the clip hidden in the middle of the credits. at the end. You’ll miss it if you stop too soon once the movie ends, so don’t.

Watch Ode To Joy. You too may find it, though not perfect but quite refreshing and funny in parts.

ODE TO JOY (2019): New Trailer From Martin Freeman, Morena Baccarin, Jake Lacy, Melissa Rauch…

Ode To Joy (2019), Morena Baccarin, Martin Freeman, IFC Films
Ode To Joy (2019), Morena Baccarin, Martin Freeman, IFC Films

New comedy Ode To Joy stars Martin Freeman, Morena Baccarin, Jake Lacy and Melissa Rauch.

A Jason Winer directed film, at the centre of the story is Charlie. (Freeman). Whenever Charlie experiences strong emotions – namely joy, a sudden bout of paralysis occurs. As a result, Charlie has developed techniques to avoid too much happiness and pleasure . It all appears to be working, but then he falls in love…

The premise is simply too interesting for me to ignore. I myself can’t quite imagine a life devoid of joy. I therefore can’t wait to see how Charlie’s story unfolds. I’d actually watch this movie right this very minute if that were an option.

Ellis Rubin, Jane Curtin, Shannon Woodward, Jackie Seiden, Adam Shapiro, Tyler Bourke, Jason Altman and Alex Perez also star.

Ode To Joy Release Dates: August 9th, 2019 (US)…

WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT (2016): New Trailer Starring Tina Fey, Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman…

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016), Tina Fey
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016), Tina Fey

There’s a new Tina Fey comedy and it’s not Sisters (2015).

Starring Fey, Alfred Molina, Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton, Whiskey, Tango Foxtrot tells the story of Kim Barker (Fey), a US journalist stationed in Afghanistan and Pakistan…

I really must first give full points for the music in this trailer. It does a great job of setting the tone.

Generally, what I’m most excited about here is the humour, which I think will work as an antidote to the tension-filled Kilo Two Bravo (2014), (another war region movie) vibe.

My fingers  are crossed that this one works, especially since the last comedy set in Afghanistan (Rock the Kasbah (2015) apparently didn’t do so well.

Release Date (s): March 4th, 2016 (US & UK)…
