Based on the Bestselling novel by Fiona Shaw, Anna Paquin, Holliday Grainger and Gregor Selkirk are the stars of Tell It To The Bees.

Directed by Annabel Jankel and set in 1950s small-town Britain, a doctor’s relationship with her young patient’s mother has her patient worried and soon enough, the whole town talking…

The young boy’s emotional journey is what intrigues me most. I also can’t help but think of Carol after seeing this trailer. I therefore envisage that it’ll prove near impossible to to avoid comparing the two films; especially bearing in mind the things they have in common.

Kate Dickie, Emun Elliott, Rebecca Hanssen, Lauren Lyle and Joanne Gallagher also star.

Tell It To The Bees Release Dates: May 3rd, 2019 (US); June 7th, 2019 (UK)…

THE GOOD DINOSAUR (2015): There’s Something I Liked…

The Good Dinosaur (2015), Arlo
The Good Dinosaur (2015), Arlo

It was my curiosity about the movie’s title that lead me to watch. I just had to know precisely what it is that makes a dinosaur good.

Directed by Peter Sohn and starring the voices of Jeffrey Wright, Frances McDormand and Maleah Nipay-Padilla, Disney’s The Good Dinosaur is a film about a very unlikely friendship. One between a dinosaur (Arlo) and a young human (Spot).

In terms of the elements of the story, there unfortunately isn’t much that I haven’t already seen before in other Disney movies. Except maybe the period in time. Beyond the setting, the film sticks very closely to the Disney animated movie formula – which is good in some ways but mostly it just left me longing for difference. This I’m isn’t what the films most obvious target market feels, but such is the way that only with time and experience can cliches be called out.

For me personally, unless a movie is really, really terrible, there’s usually something that stands out in a good way about it. Now, I definitely wouldn’t place The Good Dinosaur anywhere near the most memorable of Disney movies, but I did enjoy the surprise of what unfolds soon after Arlo asks for help from the flying creatures, as I also did the cuteness of the ‘critter.’

So, The Good Dinosaur, It’s not the best, but see it if something really, really  appeals.

ROOTS (2016): New Trailer Starring Malachi Kirby, Forrest Whitaker and Anna Paquin

Today’s movie comes in the shape of a TV mini-series. I don’t ordinarily feature mini-series on here but this trailer…!

British actor Malachi Kirby, Matthew Goode, Forrest Whitaker and Anna Paquin are the stars of Roots – to name just a few. Based on the book by Alex Haley, Roots presents a portrait of American slavery, following the journey of one family, their will to survive and transcend their circumstances.

As many will be aware, this is not the first dramatisation of Alex Haley’s best selling book. The previous version starred LeVar Burton and was released in 1977 to great critical acclaim. I’ll be watching because this trailer looks great and Roots is based on Haley’s own family history.

Other cast members include Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Anika Noni Rose and Tip “T.I.” Harris.
