Read my spoiler-free movie review of Wonder Woman (2017).

I hadn’t really paid much attention to many of the Wonder Woman news headlines ever since it was announced that Gal Gadot had won the role.

Hearing about the resultant backlash concerning her casting only worked to make me impatient for the day when she hopefully gets to silence all her critics with a brilliant performance.

Trailer 1 (Comic-Con)

Trailer 2

I like the Wonder Woman Comic-Con trailer more than the one for Justice League (2017) – a trailer that was also released on the same day.

The music, visuals and general ‘badassery’ just speak to me more. However, not just because the Amazon princess and I are both young ladies.

Wonder Woman seems like female Captain America. I say this initially because of the shield. I’m sure there are other reasons, but I’m completely new to this story, so I’m just guessing.

Lastly, I’d love for this Patty Jenkins-directed film to be as powerful in its ability to silence the critics of Gadot’s casting, as Casino Royale (2006) was for critics of Daniel Craig’s casting as James Bond.

Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright also star.

Wonder Woman Release Dates: June 2nd, 2017 (US & UK); June 7th, 2017 (FR);  June 15th, 2017 (GER)…

THE RUNNER (2015): There Was Something I liked…

Knowing that Nicolas Cage’s career hasn’t exactly seen anything close to the heights of his Face/Off (1997) days, I was hoping that The Runner, directed by Austin Stark would be one step in the right direction.

Having now seen the film, theres plenty worse out there, of course, nevertheless, The Runner just isn’t a movie I would think to recommend.

A positive note is that the movie does move quite quickly and it doesn’t run on too long. The story also highlights the unavoidable fallibility of the human, and reminds us that hypocrisy is innate in everyone. But of course, as with most things, there’s a spectrum.

Connie Nielsen, Peter Fonda and Wendell Pierce also star.

Happy Film Loving, generally speaking,

THE RUNNER (2015): New From Nicolas Cage & Promising…

I’m convinced that the fact I haven’t watched a Nicolas Cage film in a while is finally going to change.

The reason? A new trailer for the Austin Stark-directed, The Runner which also stars Connie Nielsen, Sarah Paulson and Peter Fonda.

The idealistic and flawed congressman character played by Cage is just too intriguing.

Happy Film Loving,
