Don’t Look Up, the Adam McKay co-written and directed comedy/drama, proved an adequately entertaining watch. 

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett and Timothée Chalamet, it’s a story that follows two low-level astronomers on a media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet certain to destroy planet Earth.

I found Don’t Look Up most fun when DiCaprio’s character finally lost it, because before that point, I was desperate for a truly top-level, exciting-to-watch scene, the kind he’s known for, to take centre stage. Not that he wasn’t perfectly watchable before then, of course. It’s just that he knows how to deliver a dramatic, emotional moment, and I needed to see it.

With a cast this accomplished, there were no issues performance-wise, and it was satisfying to see Meryl Streep as the President of the United States.

The comedy in McKay’s film isn’t necessarily the laugh-out-loud kind, which isn’t a bad thing. However, after a while, the persistent lack of seriousness became tedious for me.

Lastly, I suspect I’m not the only one who found what they did to Rob Morgan’s character’s hair distractingly questionable. 

Watch it if you haven’t already and you’re curious. Plus, I suspect you’ll enjoy how the movie ends. I sure did.
