A sequel to Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek’s action/comedy/adventure The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017) is here.

Directed once again by Patrick Hughes; bodyguard Michael Bryce (Reynolds) is, against hi swill, reunited with assassin Darius Kincaid (Jackson), And the two of them must work together to save Darius’s wife Sonia (Hayek).

In addition to being ready for The Hitman’s Bodyguard‘s very special brand of ‘definitely not realistic‘ but fun action sequences, plus great dialogue, I can’t wait to see Hayek as an action star in this sequel.

The three leads, Reynolds, Hayek and Jackson are some of the most fun talk show guests you could ever wish to see. Especially if the host in question is my absolute favourite, Graham Norton. As such and for several other reasons, there’s just got to be no way that the three of them on screen together won’t result in plenty of fun for all involved; particularly the audience.

Morgan Freeman, Tom Hopper, Antonio Banderas, Richard E. Grant, Caroline Goodall, Giulio Berruti, Blake Ritson, Gabriella Wright, Tomi May, Dragan Micanovic and Hiten Patel also star.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard Release Dates: June 16th, 2021 (US); June 23rd, 2021 (UK)…

POINT BLANK (2019): The Things I Liked…

Point Blank (2019),Anthony Mackie, Netflix
Point Blank (2019),Anthony Mackie, Netflix

Point Blank, a new Netflix thriller about an emergency room nurse who teams up with an injured murder suspect to save his pregnant wife isn’t a terrible film. Directed by Joe Lynch; starring Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo, I admit to having a little more fun while watching Point Blank than I expected to.

In addition to the overall execution of the story being adequate enough for me to watch through to the very end, a key highlight was the comic relief courtesy of Markice Moore’s unexpected character; a gangster boss who just happens to have movie making aspirations. Also, seeing Marcia Gay Harden in a role we don’t often see women play and her doing a great job proved memorable.

Lastly, the onscreen chemistry between Mackie and Grillo is OK. It’s certainly not as ‘sizzling’ as that between Michael Peña and Jake Gyllenhaal in End of Watch (2012); or Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg in 2013’s 2 Guns but those guys are really very special cases; I’m convinced of it.

Watch Point Blank if you’re curious.

Directed by Deon Taylor, Black And Blue is a new action / crime / drama starring Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Tyreses Gibson and Frank Grillo.

While wearing a body cam, Alicia (Harris), a rookie Detroit African-American female cop stumbles upon corrupt officers as they murder a drug dealer…

First and foremost, isn’t this just a great role for Harris? I can’t wait to see how things turn out considering Alicia’s identity crisis. She better win even though statistically the odds aren’t great.

It would be great if this movie could join End Of Watch (2012) and Training Day (2001) on my list of favourite cop movies.

Mike Colter, Beau Knapp, Nafessa Williams, Michael Papajohn, Kenneth Kynt Bryan, Deneen Tyler and James Moses Black also star.

Black And Blue Release Dates: October 25th, 2019 (US & UK)…

Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Marcia Gay Harden and Teyonah Parris are the stars of new Joe Lynch directed action / thriller Point Blank.

In a race against time, rival criminals and renegade cops, an emergency room nurse (Mackie) must team up with an injured murder suspect in order to save his pregnant wife…

I’ll give this a chance because of Mackie, especially. Also Netflix movies seem to slowly be getting better.

I admit that there’s actually one specific point in this trailer that captured my imagination more than anything else – and that’s the gorgeous purple hue of Mackie’s outfit. You can see it from approximately 0:10 into the trailer.

Christian Cooke, Boris McGiver, Ming Wang, Carly Tamborski, Harrison Sheckler, Markice Moore and Lea Hutton Beasmore also star.

Point Blank Release Dates: July 12th, 2019 (US)…
