GREENLAND (2020): The Things I Liked…

Starring Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin and Andrew Bachelor; Greenland is not a terrible action/ thriller, one about a family’s struggle to survive in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster.

Directed by Ric Roman Waugh; I generally have no complaints about the special effects or the performances. The only reason I wouldn’t call Greenland a great movie is linked to elements of the story edit and how the movie feels a tad longer than it needed to be.

Additionally, I may be expecting far too much from the government here, yet, I remain unconvinced that they’d have handled the ‘notification of selection’ quite as carelessly as they seem to in this movie.

Even though Greenland isn’t perfect, I found it adequately entertaining. As such, give it a chance if you’re curious, and especially if you’re into disaster movies/good special effects.

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Greenland (2020).

Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin and Andrew Bachelor’s latest is Greenland, a Ric Roman Waugh directed movie about a family’s struggle to survive in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster.

Set in Florida, additional key cast includes David Denman, Scott Glenn, Brandon Quinn, Claire Bronson, Joshua Mikel…

After all the disaster movies I’ve seen over the years, one thing I know is that who you know and the secret information you have access to often determines how well you fare in a crisis. With that said, it’s probably time for me to know a lot more and testerday.

I’m in for what looks to be a well paced action thriller with great special effects.

Gary Weeks, Madison Johnson, Hayes Mercure, Roger Dale Floyd, Rick Pasqualone, Mike Gassaway and Kendrick Cross also star.

Greenland Release Dates: December 18th, 2020 (US), Internet…

I really do love a good chase movie and this appears to be precisely that.

HUNTER KILLER (2017): New Trailer From Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Common, Michael Nyqvist…

In new action / thriller Hunter Killer, the Russian president has been kidnapped by a rogue general and it’s the job of an untested American submarine captain to work with U.S. Navy Seals for the rescue effort.

Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Common and Michael Nyqvist star while Donovan Marsh directs…

More than a desire to see how the story unfolds, what I really want is some submarine time without having to actually be in a submarine.

There’s also the special effects and the fact that I like Butler, Common, Oldman and the words ‘Hunter’ and ‘Killer’ side by side.

Hunter Killer Release Dates: October 26th, 2018 (US), November 2nd (UK)…

DEN OF THIEVES (2018): New Trailer Starring Gerard Butler, Pablo Schreiber, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sonya Balmores…

In new action movie Den Of Thieves, a thief gets trapped between two sets of criminals while he’s planning a bank heist. Directed by Christian Gudegast; Gerard Butler, Pablo Schreiber, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Sonya Balmores star…

I’m into this one because I’m curious about the dynamic between Butler and Jackson’s characters. I want to see how things pan out for the thief because if there was ever a great example of being ‘stuck between a rock and a hard place’, this might be it. Lastly, this trailer makes me even more impatient for the sequel to The Equalizer (2014).

Den Of Thieves Release Dates: January 19th 2018 (US); February 2nd, 2018 (UK)…

Geostorm (2017), Gerard Butler.png

Geostorm is the latest sci-fi / disaster movie  starring Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Eugenio Derbez and some super expensive special effects. Directed byDean Devlin, the story centres around a climate controlling satellite that needs to be stopped from creating one of the biggest storms the world has ever seen…

I’m going to be honest, I’m tuning in mainly for the special effects. Everything else will just be a bonus. As such, may the effects please be as thrilling as they are in San Andreas (2015).

Kathryn Winnick, Alexandra Maria Lara and Gregory Alan Williams also star.

Geostorm Release Dates: October 20th, 2017 (US & UK)…

LONDON HAS FALLEN (2016): Gerard Butler & Aaron Eckhart Return To Save The Day…

As unsettling as the idea behind London Has Fallen (2016) may be, the new movie directed by Babak Najafi and starring Gerard ButlerMorgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart and Charlotte Riley looks like it’s going to be quite the spectacle.

The imagery of London actually falling is certainly horrific, but I still couldn’t help yelping with joy at the excellent execution of this teaser trailer.

Talk about haunting trailer music…

Trailer 1…

I guess it’s time to plan the viewing of the first instalment, Olympus Has Fallen (2013). Probably and quite likely.
