The Sea Of Trees stars Matthew McConaughey, Naomi Watts and Katie Aselton. It’s also the Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting (1997), Milk (2008) directed movie that was famously booed at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
Based on this trailer, I’d never have guessed this movie didn’t turn out well. All I’m sure of at this point, considering that love, grief and suicide are key themes, is that a laugh a minute is unlikely to be words used to describe anyone’s experience.
My true reaction before realising that this is the movie that was booed was: ‘Yeah! Another Matthew McConaughey movie,’ and it stars Ken Watanabe too; an actor whose face I’ll always be glad to see because of his great work in one of my all time favourites, Inception (2010).
I’ll likely give this movie a chance. Certainly not promising that I’ll make it to the very end, but I feel I must at least try. How about you?
