I, Daniel Blake, is the latest from director Ken Loach. It’s also the  winner of the Palme d’Or award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

Starring Dave Johns, Hayley Squires and Harriet Ghost, at the centre of the story is welfare bureaucracy and the people caught in the middle.

I can’t say that the trailer made me smile, but it has me wanting to learn what I don’t already know about the characters and their predicaments.

Whilst definitely not casting aspersions, I’m also curious about just how deserving the movie is of the Palme d’Or.
