The Protégé is a new action/crime/thriller with a vengeance story at its heart. One where Maggie Q and Michael Keaton play two of the world’s premiere assassins, a pair who must form an uneasy alliance.

Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Patrick and Patrick Malahide are among the key cast.

As a big fan of well-executed movie badassery, I’ve watched what happens between 18 and 27 seconds into this trailer 6 times. And not once did I succeed at staying quiet as the action unfolded. Clearly when an action sequence looks this impressive, audible displays of appreciation are involuntary.

I can’t wait to see Q do her action woman thing, while being directed by Martin Campbell, the man behind my favourite Bond movie, Casino Royale (2006).

Lili Rich, Ekaterina Baker, Madalina Anea, Ori Pfeffer, Jack Derges, Florin Piersic Jr., George Pistereanu, Gamba Cole and Velizar Binev also star.

The Protégé Release Dates: August 20th, 2021 (US)…

THE FOREIGNER (2017): New Trailer From Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan…

The Foreigner (2017), Jackie Chan
The Foreigner (2017), Jackie Chan

Martin Campbell –  the director of Casino Royale (2006), a.k.a. my favourite James Bond movie of all time is the director of The Foreigner, the new Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan action/thriller set in London, England.

Chan’s character is a man whose daughter is killed by an Irish Republican Army (IRA) bomb. The police are not doing much to help him so he takes matters into his own hands.

This trailer could definitely have been shorter but I’m still excited because the film looks  good. I confess to having screamed ‘Jackie!‘ a couple of times in delighted surprise as the trailer played. I kind of feel as though I have even more reason than usual to be proud of Jackie Chan.

First of all, the man is 63 years old and seems to be incredibly convincing physically as an action star. Second, on my trip to L.A., I took one of those open top bus tours to Beverly Hills and I saw him outside his home. To me, that means that my… what some might describe as ‘extreme joy’ at seeing him in a very promising trailer is super justified because ‘we kind of met once’.

I definitely haven’t watched most of Chan’s movies but I’ll always be a fan because of Rush Hour 2 (2001) in particular. Without that movie, I may have never found out that contrary to what I used to believe, there is actually a way for me to enjoy karaoke after all.

Fingers crossed that the finished product proves worthy of all my enthusiasm.

The Foreigner Release Dates: October 13th, 2017 (US)…
