In the Steven Caple Jr. directed Creed IIRocky Balboa and newly crowned heavyweight champion Adonis Creed team up to fight Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago.

Additional key cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson and Florian Munteanu.

This one is, I imagine quite exciting for dedicated fans of boxing and the Balboa/Creed/Drago story. I’m more of a general ‘good film’ fan. Therefore, there’s a chance that this may be for me too, probably.

FAHRENHEIT 451 (2018): New Trailer From Michael B. Jordan, Michael Shannon, Sofia Boutella…

Fahrenheit 451 (2018), Michael B. Jordan
Fahrenheit 451 (2018), Michael B. Jordan

Starring Michael B. Jordan, Michael Shannon and Sofia Boutella, Fahrenheit 451 is set in a future where all books must be destroyed. Jordan plays Guy Montag, a fireman whose job it is to eradicate all books.

Unbeknownst to his superiors, Montag begins to question his actions after meeting a little girl…

A world where books are no longer a thing? How can one not be intrigued? It seems near enough ridiculous that such a predicament should truly come to pass. I say I have no issues with such a reality as long as it remains purely fiction, of course.

Directed by Ramin Bahrani; Keir Dullea, Martin Donovan, Lilly Singh, Grace Lynn Kung and Sean Jones also star.

Fahrenheit 451 Release Dates: May 19th, 2018 (US)…

BLACK PANTHER (2018): New Trailer From Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Lupita Nyong’o…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Black Panther (2018).

Directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed 2015) and starring Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and Angela Bassett, Black Panther is Marvel’s latest comic book superhero movie.  As is the case with all super hero movies, Black Panther is about a hero rising to defend many from an outside enemy.  Boseman is T’Challa, the new ruler of the advanced kingdom of Wakanda and it’s up to him to prevent his land from being torn apart…

My general fatigue where superhero movies are concerned will need to simmer down a little just so I can enjoy this movie. I love how ‘queenly’ and in charge Lupita looks, especially at 1:11 in the trailer. Boseman is an actor we can all rely on – along with the rest of the Black Panther cast,  so yes, I’m very excited indeed. And since February is my birthday month, I’ll consider this film as the personal gift to me that it is… in my head.

How very far away February suddenly seems.

Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Forest Whitaker, Florence Kasumba and Andy Serkis also star.

Black Panther Release Dates: February 16th, 2018 (UK & US); February 15th, 2018 (GER)…

CREED (2015): For The Story & Performances By Michael B. Jordan & Sylvester Stallone

Creed (2015) Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan
Creed (2015) Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan

Directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson, Creed is more than I expected. Having never seen any of the previous Rocky movies, I was imagining plenty of fighting footage for at least one-third of the time. Luckily, as a love/non-fighter, I’m glad to say that this isn’t at all the case.

What I like most about Creed is the way it seems to focus on the stories of the main characters and their relationships with each other, more so than on actual boxing. Nevertheless, Creed is still very much a boxing movie and fans of the sport, especially fans of the Rocky movies will have a good time.

I tuned in because I liked the trailer. Also, I’m just someone who never seems to tire of well-told stories about pivotal life decisions. Especially when the stories are about people choosing to do what is in their hearts, over what is expected/comfortable. Creed, which is written and directed by Ryan Coogler is a movie that captures a compelling example of what that journey can be like.

Watch it for the relatable themes of human experience, the choreography of the main fight sequence, plus, the rather well-paced editing and camera work.

FANTASTIC FOUR (2015): May The Movie Live Up To Its Name

How did I not feature the Fantastic Four trailer sooner? Slight super hero movie fatigue perhaps.

Whatever the answer, I’m doing it now because it is rather well done. My favourite moment being when Reed Richards/ Mr. Fantastic looks up and down to his right. Isn’t slow motion a beautiful thing?

With some of the most talented Actors of young Hollywood, Fantastic Four is an interesting super hero movie about, you guessed it, saving humanity. This new reboot is directed by Josh Trank and stars Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell.

Final Trailer…

I’ll be ready come the August (2015) release date.

CREED (2015): New Trailer For Michael B. Jordan & Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Spin-Off…

Creed (2015), Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan
Creed (2015), Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan

I’m guessing that Rocky (1976) fans will be very excited right about now. The trailer for Creed (2015), the seventh Rocky film and spin-off from the Rocky film series just arrived and ‘promising’ is the word.

Starring Sylvester Stallone as former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa, Creed sees Balboa serve as trainer and mentor to young boxer Adonis Creed, played by rising star, Michael B. Jordan.

Fans of the Rocky films will know that Adonis Creed is the son of the late Apollo Creed, a friend to Balboa, as well as a former rival – all of which makes for an interesting dynamic between the two main characters.

I’m going to confess right now to the fact that I’ve never seen any of the Rocky movies. Yes, shock horror! However, I am contemplating finally changing that fact, and just in time to watch this new release, plus also possibly to keep FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) at bay.

THAT AWKWARD MOMENT (2014): The Good Things

That Awkward Moment (2014), Zac efron, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller
That Awkward Moment (2014), Zac Efron, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller

The following are three of the best things about Zac Efron’s That Awkward Moment (2014). A story about twenty-something friends living and dating in New York. It’s definitely not a perfect movie – for reasons including, ironically, awkwardness. But these snippets of dialogue are indeed memorable. I’ve even found myself quoting one or two to friends.

1) ‘New York’s charm is that you’re surrounded by things you can’t have’. ‘New York’s charm is it makes you think you can have them’.

Having been there myself and experienced the energy, I can confirm that both statements are true.

2) ‘Jason. You weren’t there for me. On a day when I really, really needed you. And being there for someone when they need you, that’s all relationships are, Jason. That’s all they are’

Delivered whilst perfectly composed and with all pauses mid-sentence only working to make the statement more impactful in the moment – regardless of how simple the idea and words may be.

3) ‘Guys, in High School I was voted as most likely to have the best eyes’

My favourite! This one line makes me giggle every single time.

Happy That Awkward Moment 🙂
