MONSTERS – The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is a new ten-episode biography/crime/thriller series that stars Chloë Sevigny, Javier Bardem, Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch.

Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan; this is the next instalment of the Monsters anthology series. This time, instead of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, the focus is on convicted murderers Lyle and Erik Menendez; two brothers who murdered their parents.

I saw the earlier trailers for this new series some weeks ago. But, considering how dark Dahmer looked and turned out to be, I wasn’t sure I could watch this one either.

I probably still won’t watch this. However, as a fan of Bardem and Sevigny, it will be difficult to ignore it completely. The key question is, can I trade some hours of sadness for super impressive acting and great storytelling? We’ll see.

What appears clear after watching this trailer is that ‘monsters create monsters’. I’ll leave it at that for now.
