From writer/director Harry Macqueen, new drama Supernova stars Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci as partners of 20 years, Sam and Tusker.

Since Tusker was diagnosed with early-onset dementia two years ago, their time together became the most important thing. And so they set off travelling across England in their visiting friends, family and places from their past.

I’m in to see if Supernova will be as revealing as Still Alice (2014), the most notable movie I’ve seen about early on-set dementia yet.

Lori Campbell, Ian Drysdale, Daneka Etchells, Julie Hannan, Pippa Haywood, Nina Marlin, Tina Louise Owens, John Alan Roberts and Sarah Woodward also star.

Did I already say that I’m over the moon that Sam Mendes is back? He’s already directed at least two of my all time favourite movies. And now a film about two young British soldiers (Dean-Charles Chapman and George McKay) tasked with a seemingly impossible mission.

Additional key cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Andrew Scott…

I’m excited for this story of sibling love and a desperate race against time. I can’t wait for all the beautiful shots that are synonymous with Mendes films .

It’s highly likely I’ll be hugely moved. I mean… I may or may not have already let a few tears escape while watching this trailer.

The Secret Garden is a movie version of  novelist Frances Hodgson Burnett’s book of the same name.

Starring Colin Firth, Maeve Dermody, Julie Walters and Dixie Egerickx, it’s a Marc Munden directed story about a young orphan girl who discovers a magical garden hidden at her uncle’s house…

I vaguely remember reading The Secret Garden at school, but I somehow only recall the basics. I.e. ‘There was a girl. There was a secret garden.‘

I’ll watch this to be reminded, but also definitely to enjoy the visulas of the beautiful flowers and greenery.

Talk about a love story! What a thoroughly intense predicament.

Bring on the award nominations for one of my favourite directors who has been silent for a while but clearly very busy.

I wonder if my guess is correct in thinking that the brother racing to deliver the message doesn’t make it so his friend carries on instead. I’m sure that what ever the truth, this will still be a memorable audio visual experience.

I’ll be watching to learn more about the kind of ‘madness’ that drives one to leave their wife and young children behind, to go a on a dangerous solo adventure with a 50/ 50 chance of survival. Particularly an adventure that doesn’t appear to be of benefit to the family left behind.

I of course also want to know about how far Crowhurst took the lies he started telling about his progress.
