Based on the graphic novel by Greg Tocchini; The Last Days of American Crime is a new action/crime movie starring Edgar Ramírez, Michael Pitt and Sharlto Copley.

Directed by Olivier Megaton, the story is set in a not-too-distant future. A future where America’s final response to terrorism and crime is the government having the ability to broadcast a signal, making it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit a crime.

I’m in to find out more about the ‘freezing crime’ capabilities. Fingers crossed that the story around the tech is equally compelling.

Anna Brewster, Jay Anstey, Inge Beckmann, Sean Cameron Michael, Tamer Burjaq, Robert Hobbs, Daniel Fox and Clayton Boyd also star.

A fun new trailer for Disney’s Jungle Cruise just landed.

A fantasy/adventure based on Disneyland’s theme park ride, where a small riverboat takes a group of travellers through a jungle where everything wants to kill you. There’s also the promise of the supernatural.

Emily Blunt, Dwayne Johnson, Edgar Ramirez and Jesse Plemons star while Jaume Collet-Serra directs.

I like that Jungle Cruise kind of reminds me of Jumanji – and not just because of Johnson and the jungle setting.

The Johnson/Blunt dynamic looks like a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to hear more from the villains. For example, who is Ramirez playing because the snake through the face moment in this trailer is quite something.

Veronica Falcón, Andy Nyman, Paul Giamatti, Quim Gutiérrez, Raphael Alejandro and Mark Ashworth also star.

New drama/biography Resistance is the story of a group of Jewish Boy Scouts who worked with the French Resistance to save the lives of ten thousand orphans during World War II.

Written/directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz; key cast includes Jesse Eisenberg, Ed Harris, Edgar Ramírez and Clémence Poésy.

Having recently seen Eisenberg in The Art of Self Defence (2019), where for much of the film he’s far from empowered, I like that in Resistance his character appears brave, heroic and in charge.

Matthias Schweighöfer, Bella Ramsey, Géza Röhrig, Karl Markovics, Félix Moati, Alicia von Rittberg, Vica Kerekes, Tobias Gareth Elman, Kue Lawrence, Christian Clarke and Aurélie Bancilhon also star.

Inspired by a true story, Gold, the latest movie starring Matthew McConaughey, Edgar Ramirez and Bryce Dallas Howard is about one man’s challenging American dream. A dream of finding gold and the even more difficult task of keeping it once he lucks out and does.

Directed by Stephen Gaghan, I’ll be watching to see McConaughey in yet another new light. I also want to know precisely all the ways that people are going to ‘come for’ his character; that is once they get the distinct whiff of billions and billions  of dollars. The phrase more money, more problems is so very fitting here.

I couldn’t help but get a The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013) vibe from this trailer; such is the mark Martin Scorcese’s movie has left on my brain.

Toby Kebbell, Corey Stoll and Bill Camp also star.
