The latest trailer for Artemis Fowl, a fantasy / adventure about a young criminal mastermind is here.

Directed by Kenneth Brannagh; key cast includes Colin Farrell, Judi Dench Josh Gad, Ferdia Shaw…

With this one, rather than the story, I find myself more interested in the special effects, especially where the villains / monsters are concerned.

Fantasy is generally not my go to genre. However I do like Farrell, and I’m sure I’d eventually forget about how little Shaw seems to resemble Farrell once the movie gets started.

Nikesh Patel, Hong Chau, Nonso Anozie, Miranda Raison, Adrian Scarborough, Taylor James, Lara McDonnell, Joshua McGuire, and Ferdia Shaw also star.

The promise of humour has me interested. I also want to see how well Nyong’o does at selling her character. Then there’s the cuteness of the adorable little kids. I need to see how many of them will cry because I’m almost certain that I’d have been howling immediately.

Kat Stewart, Nadia Townsend, Alexander England, Marshall Napier, Henry Nixon, Rahel Romahn, Jason Chong, Adele Vuko and M.J. Kokolis also star.

Starring Ferdia Shaw, Hong Chau, Josh Gad and Judi Dench, Artemis kidnaps a fairy LEPrecon officer called Holly Short  for ransom; so he can fund the search for his missing father…

The name Artemis Fowl sounded familiar, yet until now, I hadn’t  a clue about this story. It’s a Disney film and directed by Branagh  (Cinderella (2015), so I have hope it’ll be worthy.

Nonso Anozie, Adrian Scarborough, Lara McDonnell and Nikesh Patel also star.

I’m excited because Boseman is good and Marshall the man is interesting because of his achievements. Also, what I’ve seen so far in this trailer is reminding me of the undeniable cool factor as embodied by Denzel Washington’s character in American Gangster (2007) – a movie I need to re-watch again soon.

A Dog’s Purpose is the latest movie starring Dennis Quaid,  Britt Robertson and Josh Gad. Directed by Lasse Hallsström, we get to tag along on a dog’s quest to find it’s purpose over several lifetimes…

Unless something goes horribly wrong, this movie is going to be a great success – largely on account of the subject matter and sheer number of dog lovers out there. I’ll watch because Gad is great. I’m actually surprised that I didn’t realise he’s the man behind the voice of ‘Bailey Bailey Bailey’ until I read it. I just loved his voice work in The Angry Birds Movie (2016).

Will dog ownership rise after this movie? I think yes.
