MUTE (2018): New Trailer From Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Rudd, Justin Theroux…

Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux are the stars of Mute, a Duncan Jones-directed mystery/sci-fi/thriller about a mute bartender (Skarsgård) who goes up against his city’s gangsters to find out what happened to his missing girlfriend, the love of his life.

The futuristic setting and the resultant visuals are why I’m most interested.

Paul Rudd playing a character who doesn’t appear to be sweet and adorable intrigues me. Then there’s Skårsgard, I’m excited by the emotional range he’s likely to achieve in this role (since he can’t speak) and his impressive stature.

Noel Clarke, Nikki Lamborn, Seyneb Saleh and Gilbert Owuor  also star.

ANT-MAN & THE WASP (2018): New Trailer From Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Walton Goggins, Michael Douglas…

In Ant-Man & The Wasp, Scott Lang, a.k.a, Ant-Man must balance being both a Super Hero and a father, when he’s presented with an urgent new mission that pairs him alongside The Wasp.

Directed by Peyton Reed; Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Walton Goggins star.

I haven’t seen the first Ant-Man movie yet. This is true for no good reason except it hasn’t yet screamed out for me to watch it.

The Ant-Man concept is different enough from other superhero movies that I really should have been drawn to it already. Having dug deep, I think the delay might be my inability to imagine an ant as cool. Yep… I said it.

I’m definitely a little more likely to watch the original movie, now that I’ve seen the skyscraper shrinking trick at 0:30 seconds in to the above trailer.

What do you think.

Ant-Man & The wasp Release Dates: July 6th, 2018 (US); August 3rd, 2018 (UK)…

SAUSAGE PARTY (2016): New Trailer From Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill….

Sausage Party is the brand new comedy from Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen and James Franco. It’s an animation comedy and the key characters are food.

Rogen’s previous movie, The Night Before (2015) proved to be more disappointing than anticipated. As such, my fingers are crossed with this new ‘food horror.’ Nevertheless, the different personalities assigned to all the food items are certainly an intriguing.

Directed by  Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan; the film stars several Rogen regulars, including Michael Cera, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson. Salma Hayek, Edward Norton and Paul Rudd also lend their voices.

Sausage Party Release Dates: August 12th, 2016 (US & UK), August 18th, 2016 (GER), September 14th (FR)…

ANT-MAN (2015): Yes. I Will Believe In Paul Rudd

Ant-Man is possibly the most uncool superhero name out there. I say this whilst being completely unfamiliar with pretty much all comic books.

Since it is Marvel, I’m hoping very much that I’m proven more wrong than ever before. Please, the powers that be!

Here’s the teaser trailer.

What do you think? I’ll likely watch because I enjoy the work of Rudd. Also, how young does Michael Douglas look in the preview?

SETH ROGEN’S This Is The End (2013). Funny? YES!

This is The End (2013), Seth Rogen, James Franco
This is The End (2013), Seth Rogen, James Franco

I learned today that two close friends of mine do not find Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s This Is The End (2013) funny. After getting over the initial shock and coming to terms with it, I made an effort to understand by running through the possible reasonable explanations:

  1. They haven’t watched or enjoyed Pineapple Express (2008), Superbad (2007) Knocked Up (2007) or other great comedies by Rogen and Goldberg.
  2. They must not have been in the right frame of mind to properly appreciate the movie’s greatness. I mean, I do believe that you have to be ‘in the mood‘ for certain films (comedy, drama, action, horror, etc.) to get the best out of them.
  3. They were too tired to pay due attention.

Following my analysis, none of the above explanations were correct. I was therefore left with the only possible answer. Something is very wrong with both of my friends. As such, attempting to make further sense of the situation is a fool’s errand.

I wonder, what do you think? Did you find This Is The End funny or am I mistaken? I know deep down that I’m not, of course. But it’s generally nice to ask.
