In new drama/biography The Dig, Carey Mulligan is a wealthy widow who hires an amateur archaeologist (Ralph Fiennes) to excavate the burial mounds on her estate, when they make a historic discovery, all while WWII is looming.

Directed by Simon Stone; additional key cast includes Lily James and Johnny Flynn.

I’m not particularly into archeology but the cast is good; James (My favourite Cinderella (2015) and Mulligan who’s simply great in everything.

Ken Stott, Ben Chaplin, Monica Dolan, Arsher Ali, Joe Hurst, Chris Wilson, Eileen Davies, Grant Crookes, Jane Fowler, James Dryden and Ellie Piercy also star.

The Dig Release Dates: January 29th, 2021 (US), Netflix…

The next trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s The King’s Man , a movie starring Gemma Arterton, Matthew Goode Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and about the first independent Intelligence agency is here…

I’m already quite certain that Sofia Boutella’s Gazelle in Kingsman – The Secret Service (2014) will forever be my favourite Kingsman character. Nevertheless, I look forward to what Aterton’s Polly will bring to the franchise.

Also the character played by Tayolor-Johnson, I’m guessing he may be a villain, since we’re two trailers in and we still haven’t met him .

Djimon Hounsou, Alison Steadman, Stanley Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Alexandra Maria Lara, Tucci, Rhys Ifans and Daniel Brühl also star.

The King’s Man Release Dates: February 14th, 2020 (US)…

Holmes & Watson is a Humorous version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mysteries featuring Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson.

Directed by Etan Cohen; Holmes & Watson stars Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Ralph Fiennes, Rebecca Hall…

Looks like fun ridiculousness – just the kind of thing I’ll be in the mood for at some point, I know it! I find myself rather happy for Ferrell and Reilly because of how much fun it undoubtedly is to speak on those specific British accents.

Steve Coogan, Hugh Laurie, Kelly Macdonald, Lauren Lapkus and Noah Jupe also star.

Holmes & Watson Release Dates: November 9th, 2018 (US); December 26th, 2018 (UK)

Directed by Chris McKay; the movie stars Will Arnett, Mariah Carey, Zach Galifianakis, Rosario Dawson, Michael Cera and Ralph Fiennes. I’m sure there’ll be no surprise about what to expect plot-wise, of course. Though, it’s really the humour I’m most interested in.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, A Bigger Splash is a new mystery / crime / drama starring Matthias Schoenaertz, Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson and Ralph Fiennes…

I rather like the vibe of the trailer but not just because it seems to be set in sunny Italy. The music, editing and the little we now know about the characters and tensions so far has me mighty curious.

At this stage it’s probably a safe bet that for the characters of A Bigger Splash, things are unlikely to end well. Also Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) randomly came to mind… I need to re-watch that movie.

A Bigger Splash Release Date(s): February 12, 2016 (UK);  May 13th 2016 (US)…

I’m really hoping that Hail Caesar! is great. Especially since musicals aren’t my thing.

Set during the 1950s, the very promising cast includes Jonah Hill, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes and Tilda Swinton.

At last, the full Spectre trailer lands and it’s perfectly thrilling.

Perhaps it’s a generational thing, but Daniel Craig is without a doubt  my favourite Bond of all time.

Never has October felt so far away.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL (2014): Your Grand Audio Visual Feast Awaits

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Tony Revolori, Ralph Feinnes
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Tony Revolori, Ralph Feinnes

Written / directed by Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel is a dramatic comedy adventure that stars Ralph Feinnes, Adrien Brody, Mathieu Amalric, Jude Law, Edward Norton and two great young Actors by the name of Tony Revolori and Saoirse Ronan.

Anderson’s film is wonderful feast of good and humorous story telling that features rich, colourful cinematography and great dialogue.

Every line that comes out of the mouth of Monsieur Gustave – who is excellently played by Ralph Feinnes is delivered with such expert comic timing, that upon second viewing I could barely look at anything else. The same can be said for every move made by M. Gustave.

Oddly enough, the first couple of times I tried to watch The Grand Budapest Hotel, I stopped within ten minutes. I just couldn’t get into the swing of it.

Having now seen the film more than once, please don’t let the initial slow-ish pace at the beginning dissuade you, for things get most interesting as soon as Monsieur Gustave is introduced, ten minutes in. That’s when the adventure truly begins. Watch it and see.
