FLY ME TO THE MOON (2024): New Trailer From Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Woody Harrelson, Ray Romano…

Fly Me to the Moon is a new comedy/romance starring Scarlett Johansson, Woody Harrelson, Channing Tatum and Ray Romano.

Directed by Greg Berlanti; Johansson is Kelly Jones, a fictional marketing maven hired to direct footage of a fake moon landing as a backup, after the White House deemed the real moon landing mission too important to fail.

Johansson is why I’m a little intrigued; more than the story or historical period. Fly Me to the Moon also has a certain Hail, Caesar! (2015) and Babylon (2022) quality – one that doesn’t necessarily elicit the highest confidence.

Perhaps it’s because the moon landing story has been told so many times, that this just feels repetitive. Still, how lovely it would be to find myself pleasantly surprised with the finished product.

Do you find yourself curious about this one? Harrelson is always fun and Tatum and Johansson should be interesting; both were in Hail, Caesar!

Jim Rash, Christian Clemenson, Peter Jacobson, Greg Kriek, Colin Woodell, Joe Chrest, Noah Robbins, Anna Garcia and Kylee Nicole Peck also star.

Fly Me to the Moon Release Dates: July 12th, 2024 (US & UK)…

PADDLETOWN (2019): New Trailer From Ray Romano, Mark Duplass…

Paddleton (2019), Mark Duplass, Ray Romano
Paddleton (2019), Mark Duplass, Ray Romano

Directed and co-written by Alex Lehmann, Paddletown stars Ray Romano and Mark Duplass as two misfit neighbours in an unlikely friendship.

The two men find themselves on an emotional journey after one of them is diagnosed with terminal cancer.

I’m in for the story, the bromance and to see if I can forget my knowledge and appreciation of Duplass as a comedic actor (The Mindy Project) and stop expecting him to say and do something funny every second, which is basically what I did during this trailer.

Marguerite Moreau, Christine Woods, Alexandra Billings, Kadeem Hardison, Matt Bush, Dendrie Taylor and Stephen Oyoung also star.

Paddletown Release Dates: February 22nd, 2019 (US)…

THE BIG SICK (2017): The Thing I Liked…

The Big Sick (2017), Zoe Kazan, Kumail Nanjiani
The Big Sick (2017), Zoe Kazan, Kumail Nanjiani

I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen a feature-length movie about an interracial relationship between a caucasian female and a Pakistani male before, but I really like the way the struggles that come with the resultant culture clash, and other challenging life events are captured with humour in The Big Sick.

What the lead actors Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan did, acting-wise, as the couple in the interracial relationship has resulted in a funny, romantic and definitely dramatic movie; a film that does a good job of delivering laughs and a certain realism to the events that take place.

Some of the realism is likely helped by the fact that The Big Sick is based on the actual lives of the film’s writers – Nanjiani and wife wife, Emily V. Gordon. But really, director Michael Showalter and the other actors involved, including Holly Hunter, Ray Romano and Adeel Akhtar, all deliver well-balanced performances.

I for one have zero complaints about the The Big Sick. Certainly not in regards to the pace of the story. You’ll likely shed a tear or two, especially if you’re not, how you say…? ‘completely dead inside.’

One more thing… wasn’t the ending just beautiful?

Happy Film loving,
