A year in the life of a middle-class family in Mexico City in the early 1970s is the topic of Roma, the new drama from Alfonso Cuarón; Acadamy Award winner and director of Gravity (2013).

Key cast includes Yalitza Aparicio, Marina de Tavira and Diego Cortina Autrey.

I’m drawn to this because it’s Cuarón and also because I don’t remember the last time a black and white film looked so appealing to me – visually that is. Cuarón’s film looks pretty well-lit. And if you’ve seen my Instagram account, you probably have some idea of how much I love light, too much, perhaps.

Carlos Peralta, Verónica García, Nancy García García and Fernando Grediaga also star.
