Melanie (Sennia Nanua) is a special young girl. A young girl who’s taken along on a journey of survival with her teacher (Gemma Aterton) and a scientist (Glenn Close).
Directed by Colm McCarthy and set in a dystopian future in what looks like London, England, The Girl With All The Gifts is an adequate zombie movie. It’s not quite the kind you may be expecting in some respects but it’s worth it to hang in there for the ending, my favourite part.

I don’t recall getting particularly terrified as I watched, probably because gore isn’t necessarily the core focus of McCarthy’s movie. The Girl With All The Gifts is a relatively smart zombie movie. Personally I find the idea of zombies a tad more ridiculous and unreal than the idea of vampires – as odd as that may seem. And yes, I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t survive a zombie apocalypse.
Watch The Girl With All The Gifts if you’re intrigued enough and to find out about the refreshing difference that is the ending.
