WAKE UP DEAD MAN – A KNIVES OUT STORY (2025): The Things I Liked…

Writer/director, Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man – A Knives Out Story does what the Knives Out franchise does best, deliver fun, well-executed murder mysteries that have you looking forward to the next instalment.

Starring Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc, this time the scene of the murder is a small-town church with a dark history, arguably an immediately intriguing setting.

Also starring Kerry Washington, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin and Mila Kunis, in true Knives Out style, the well-titled Wake Up Dead Man has several twists and turns. You won’t see most of them coming, though you may guess a couple.

If you enjoyed Knives Out (2019) and Glass Onion – A Knives Out Story (2023), then don’t hesitate to watch Wake Up Dead Man. The quality and fun are still there. Plus, O’Connor and Brolin are especially great.

Lastly, I have a feeling you won’t want to miss out on that super delicious punch at the beginning.

ALL’S FAIR (2025): The Thing I Liked…

All's Fair (2025), Niecy Nash, Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Hulu
All’s Fair (2025), Niecy Nash, Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Hulu

All’s Fair, Ryan Murphy’s latest legal drama, starring Sarah Paulson, Kim Kardashian, Niecy Nash, Naomi Watts, Glenn Close and Teyana Taylor, is not very good.

Considering the number of reputable actors involved, one would expect a series about a successful divorce lawyer and her all-female firm to be of a certain quality. What we get instead is the epitome of style, particularly in reference to fashion and production design, over substance. But not in a way that makes you rationalise and think: ‘Hey, not every series has to be of the highest depth and quality’. Instead, you’re left wondering how so many skilled performers agreed to be in this.

All’s Fair is something one may continue to watch begrudgingly, with a sense of disappointment, because it’s more like a fantastical soap with melodramatic elements, as opposed to a series to be taken seriously and appreciated greatly.

The first 3 episodes were more than enough for anyone to reach the above conclusions. Yet, what happens in episode four only cements everything that the most hopeful had feared. In that, All’s Fair is sadly, as bad as many have said. The kind of show you tune into, mainly for the aforementioned style elements.

So, steer clear, unless you’re especially curious and don’t mind cringing and letting the below thought enter your mind as you watch: ‘Oh, wow. A bad script and prioritisation of style over all else really can make a top-tier actor seem far less skilled.’

WAKE UP DEAD MAN – A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY (2025): New Trailer From Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Wake Up Dead Man – A Knives Out Mystery(2025).

Caught

Danger is the key word for writer/director Rian Johnson’s latest Knives Out instalment, Wake Up Dead Man – A Knives Out Mystery.

Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc to solve the latest case, and new cast members include Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Josh O’Connor, Mila Kunis and Josh Brolin.

What a wonderful mix of talented actors. I’m hoping to be surprised by who the guilty party is. Though this trailer does seem to suggest that O’Connor’s character is not so innocent.

Are you also looking forward to Craig’s Benoit Blanc working it all out?

Daryl McCormack, Jeremy Renner, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Thomas Haden Church, Kerry Frances and Annie Hamilton also star.

SUPER/MAN – THE CHRISTOPHER REEVE STORY (2024): New Trailer For Documentary About The Superman Actor…

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024), Christopher Reeve, Warner Bros. Pictures
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024), Christopher Reeve, Warner Bros. Pictures

Super/Man – The Christopher Reeve Story is a new documentary about the man who played many people’s favourite Superman.

From directors Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui; the film features Glenn Close, Susan Sarandon and many more who knew Reeve; including his family and friends, as we learn the story of Reeve, his work, the twists and turns of his life and his legacy.

For some of us, Christopher Reeve is the first actor we saw in the Superman role. He’s actually the third actor to play the character in a live-action on-screen production.

I’m one of the people who watched and enjoyed all four of his Superman films. I also heard a little about some of the inspiring work he decided to do after his tragic accident. I feel ready to learn more about this extraordinary human. One who was tireless when helping to lift others.

Unsurprisingly, writing this post has me dreaming about dropping everything to begin rewatching all of Reeve’s Superman movies. Namely, Superman (1978), Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983) and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)). I’ll likely do that very soon – especially if my recent journey into watching twenty to thirty-year-old films continues going well.

Super/Man – The Christopher Reeve Story Release Dates: September 21st, 2024 (US), November 1st, 2024 (UK)…

SWAN SONG (2021): New Trailer From Mahershala Ali, Naomie Harris, Glenn Close…

You wait ‘200 years’ for the most compelling story, and finally, it comes.

Written/directed by Benjamin Cleary; Naomie Harris, Glenn Close and Mahershala Ali are the stars of Swan Song, a new drama/sci-fi with a trailer so very intriguing that I dare not explain the premise, for it is best experienced.

To say that Ali is the perfect actor to play this role feels like an understatement. I am a massive fan of what he can do without words.

There’s no doubt that very big tears are going to flow while watching this one, but I suspect it will all be worth it.

I’m excited to find out if things turn out as Ali’s Cameron Turner expected. I sure hope the answer is yes. But considering that he signed up for something experimental, who’s to know?

In addition to season one of Ted Lasso (2020) and season one of The Morning Show (2019), this is definitely one of my favourites of all the trailers that Apple TV+ has ever released.

Tell me you’re as excited as I am about this very promising story. Tell me, at once!

Awkwafina, Lee Shorten, Nyasha Hatendi, Luke Camilleri, Adam Beach, Dax Rey, JayR Tinaco and Jessica Hayles also star.

Swan Song Release Dates: December 17th, 2021 (US & UK)…
