An aspiring rapper from a down trodden town in New Jersey is working on making it big. Patricia Dombrowski, a.k.a. Killa P, a.k.a. Patti Cake$ is her name and she’s played by Danielle McDonald in this Geremy Jasper directed drama.

Bridget Everett and Siddharth Dhananjay also star.

For obvious reasons, Eminem’s 8 Mile (2002) came to mind as I watched this trailer.

I’m curious about the film because I’m quite the sucker for a promising underdog story. You know, stories where people are winning regardless of all the doubters.

Fingers crossed this is a good one.
