Anya Taylor-Joy, Timothy Olyphant, Annette Bening and William Fichtner are the stars of new 7-part crime/drama, Lucky.

Taylor-Joy is playing a reformed criminal who is forced to confront her past and return to illicit activities to secure her freedom.

I’m always happy to see the ever-great actor William Fichtner on a cast list. As for the premise of Lucky, it may seem super cliché, but perhaps the execution is a pleasant surprise.

The last production I saw Taylor-Joy in was The Gorge (2025). It looks like the character she played in that movie and the one in this series have similar skills, not at all a complaint, mind you.

Quinn Aune, Mika McCalla, Aadyn Encalarde, Matthew Rauch, Ariel Flores, Clifton Collins Jr., Drew Starkey, Eric Lange, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Isaac Stephen Montgomery, Christiana Montoya, Paris Nicole, Armah David and Airic Knight also star.

Finding Steve Mqueen is a new crime/thriller based on a true story set in 1972 in Youngstown, Ohio.

Starring Travis Fimmel, William Fichtner, Forrest Whitaker and Rachael Taylor; director Mark Steven Johnson’s story is about a gang of thieves as they attempt to steal $30 million in illegal contributions and blackmail money, from President Richard Nixon‘s secret fund.

Looks like this could be fun. It kind of brings to mind Leonardo DiCaprio’s Catch Me If You Can (2002).

Lily Rabe, Jake Weary, Rhys Coiro, John Finn, Molly McQueen and Gioia (a.k.a. Joy) Libardoni also star.

Written/directed by Deon Taylor; Paula Patton, Omar Epps and William Fichtner star in Traffik, a thriller about a couple who find themselves being tormented by a violent biker gang, turning their romantic weekend getaway into a nightmare.

This trailer has some promise. I’m curious because it somehow didn’t occur to me that  grown adults could also be targets for human trafficking.

Roselyn Sanchez, Missi Pyle and Laz Alonso  also star.

Directed by Roland Emmerich; starring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, William Fichtner, Bill pullman and Maika Monroe, the trailer for Independence Day – Resurgence has arrived.

When I watched the original Independence Day (1996) movie, the one  about the fight against an alien invasion of earth, I vaguely recall a young Will Smith’s famous charisma going a long way to making the film worth dedicating two hours.

This time round, aliens are once again coming to invade and destroy planet. I wonder how the story will fair without a Smith-like comedic presence.

Fingers crossed that we’ll all be impressed by more than just the special effects.
