Starring Anna Castillo, Javier Gutiérrez, Pep Ambròs and directed by Icíar Bollaín, The Olive Tree is all about a girl, her friend and her uncle who go on a journey to recover a family olive tree that has been taken.

It would appear that now is the season for trees to be the subject of movies. However, there is a chance that my observation is premature, especially since the only other ‘tree movie’ that came immediately to mind is ‘A Monster Calls (2016).

I’m drawn to this film because it’s not quite that clear to me how one could become so attached to a tree, so, naturally, I aim to find out.
