In You Were Never Really Here, Joaquin Phoenix plays a war veteran whose attempt to save a young girl from a sex trafficking ring goes horribly wrong. Directed by Lynne Ramsay; Alessandro Nivola and Ekaterina Samsonov also star.
The sound / music in the first 45 seconds was quite challenging for my delicate ears; nevertheless, I’m interested in this movie. Phoenix is great and the film’s mood reminds me of one of my favourite Tom Hardy movies, Locke (2013). Also, the film’s synopsis brings to mind The Equalizer (2014) – except things probably didn’t go quite as terribly for Denzel Washington’s character.

Now this one looks interesting! That opening music was perfect I thought – maybe your volume was too high? 😉
When I first heard the music at the beginning, it has the quality of music you hear second hand – only because the person that has it plugged into their ears has the volume up high so it sounds terrible. Also there’s barely a discernible bass line. The music towards the end, on the other hand… now that made my platelets dance. 😀 I’m a girl who likes a healthy bass line, I guess.
I didn’t hear it that way initially, but I can hear what you mean. Fascinating subtly.
I’m a big Joaquin fan, I wish he worked more. 🙂
Amen to that! 😀
