The non-teaser trailer for The Fantastic Four – First Steps is out.
Directed by Matt Shakman, this retelling of the story of Marvel’s First Family stars Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach
This is a good trailer. Yet, I’m not enthused by the look of the Silver Surfer as a villain. I guess it’s supposed to be a ‘simpler look.’ Nevertheless, knowing what I’ve seen of the usually delightful excess that is Marvel villainy in many of their other movies, I’m definitely underwhelmed. On the other hand, I’m not overly familiar with The Fantastic Four story. So, I may be missing plenty.
I’m certain that I already love Pascal as Mister Fantastic.
How are you feeling now that this promising trailer has been released?
Natasha Lyonne, John Malkovich, Ralph Ineson, Sarah Niles, Julia Garner and Paul Walter Hauser also star.

I think it’s a period piece. 😁
😁 I think that sounds right.
I like the 50s aesthetic and it doesn’t look silly. This is not my go to comic, but the group of actors looks the part. I’m giving it a chance. Pedro is definitely on a roll right now. It’s inspiring to see him enjoying his time in the spotlight, especially knowing he’s been battling with anxiety.
The 50s, I guess it really is a ‘period piece’. 🤓
As for Pascal. All the best to him, as one of my favourites. 😊
This trailer has me more hyped than the first one. I’m not crazy about the gender-reversed Silver Surfer, but I’ll reserve judgement until it comes out. Just glad it captures the classic Fantastic Four feel.
