Read my spoiler-free movie review of Wick is Pain (2025).
Some dedicated John Wick fans may find themselves disappointed because Wick is Pain, isn’t the next instalment in the John Wick Franchise, a.k.a John Wick 5. But rather, a documentary about the independent film turned billion-dollar franchise that stars Keanu Reeves.
Directed by Jeffrey Doe, Wick is Pain features Reeves, producers Basil Iwany, Erica Lee and John Wick stunt double/coordinator Jackson Spidell and director Chad Stahelski.
I rarely watch behind-the-scenes documentaries these days. But for this, I can make an exception. If Reeves and the chance to spend time in the colourful world of Wick wasn’t enough, I just want to learn more about the horse stunt scene.
Where do you sit regarding behind-the-scenes documentaries? Watched any great ones lately?
Wick is Pain Release Dates: May 9th, 2025 (US)…

I saw this yesterday. It’s good, a worthwhile look at what it took to make Wick happen.
Thanks for sharing. I’m excited to see it this week.
Iagree, most behind the scenes spoil the magic but I’ll definitely be watching this, looks great!
Enjoy, Jane! I’m seeing it this week. It should be fun.
I’m all in as well!
I used to watch more of these when DVDs were all the rage. Nowadays I mostly see short clips or parts of larger set on YT. It depends on the movie but mostly I’m into VFX stuff.
It looks like this particular documentary will focus on quite a few areas, including the people involved, which is good. I can’t quite quit movie trailers. As such, to keep some element of surprise, I avoid the BTS stuff until I’ve watched the movie. And even then, it has to be especially interesting to me. Particularly since, like you said, DVDs aren’t such a big deal now, and it feels as though you have to make more effort to find the clips.
