In adventure/fantasy Mortal Kombat 2, the Mortal Kombat fan-favourite champions, now joined by Johnny Cage (Karl Urban), are pitted against one another in the ultimate battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn. A rule that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

Directed by Simon McQuoid, additional key cast includes Mehcad Brooks, Karl Urban, Ludi Lin, Jessica McNamee and Joe Taslim.

I had fun than anticipated while watching Mortal Kombat (2021).

This new trailer doesn’t look all bad. However, I find myself missing Sub-Zero a little bit. Especially because what we saw him do in the 2021 trailer and film was impressive and cool, no pun intended.

I’ll likely give this a chance because a key reason I enjoyed the first movie was the fight choreography. May it still be great for this second instalment, seemingly without sSub-Zero.

Are you also drawn to this one? Where does Mortal Kombat sit in your ranking of movies based on video games?

Ludi Lin, Jessica McNamee, Joe Taslim, Hiroyuki Sanada, Adeline Rudolph, Tati Gabrielle, Josh Lawson, Martyn Ford, Tadanobu Asano, CJ Bloomfield and Steven Cragg also star.

Mortal Kombat II Release Dates: October 24th, 2025 (US & UK)…

Happy Film Loving,

G

  1. I also prefer the trailer for the 2021 movie. This could be fun. I’m just not sure if any truly good video game movies exist yet. Is that too harsh?

  2. Mortal Kombat II looks a whole lot better than the first one. Mostly because Johnny Cage is a fan favorite who should’ve been there from the start. I’m also hoping Sub-Zero shows up, because he’s the face of the franchise alongside Scorpion.

  3. I believe I’ve seen the first two, but not the animated versions or the latest one. I don’t recall much, so I’d live to revisit the first one before watching the last one.
