From director Nia DaCosta, starring Tessa Thompson, Imogen Poots and Tom Bateman, Hedda is the story of a woman whose quietly suffocating present life gets interrupted…
‘That before you were domesticated, you were like fire‘
I thought the above was a compliment at first. Now I’m not so sure. Nevertheless, I can’t help feeling that being ‘like fire’ sounds super badass.
The dialogue, clearly, and the cinematography have my attention. I’m hoping the story is also engaging and satisfying. I mean, Hedda is based on the well-regarded play, Hedda Gabler, by Henrik Ibsen, after all.
Are you familiar with Ibsen’s book? It sounds like the kind of play I may have heard about in college.
Nicholas Pinnock, Nina Hoss, Finbar Lynch, Mirren Mack, Jamael Westman, Saffron Hocking, Jack Barry, Kathryn Hunter and Sam Hoare also star.
Hedda Release Dates: October 29th, 2025 (US & UK)…

The name Hedda Gabler isn’t unfamiliar. It’s one of those things you recognise but you don’t know how. 🙂
I know that feeling. It’s common with art/artists that were huge before our time.
Looks like a whirlwind plot. Good-looking cast. Great Roxy Music tune for the trailer.
I agree with you on all accounts. 🤓🥂
No idea what this is, but Tessa Thompson looks completely invigorating.
Absolutely! She’s in her element and fully alive in this role. What a joy to live it and to witness it.
