I love that this trailer combines a handful of my favourite things, including:
- Funnyman Will Arnett.
- Will Arnett’s great voice.
- Will Arnett in a dramatic role (loved him in Flaked (2016-2017).
- Will Arnett doing what looks like a stellar job of playing a stand-up comic.
Outside of my arguably intense appreciation of Arnett, I’m also excited for a new Bradley Cooper film. More so because the main character is a professional comedian. After all, rarely does a day go by without a joke by one of my favourite comics replaying in my mind and helping to make my day.

I love stand-up comedy / dramedy. And can’t think of any other movies about it. I see a lot of different faces in Will Arnett’s, standing there at the Mic. Relatable.
There aren’t many films about stand-up specifically, but a handful feature it as a key part of the story. Here are a few: Funny People (2009), The Big Sick (2017), and I think there’s a De Niro film where he plays a stand-up comic. I forgot the name.
A few others come to mind:
Mr. Saturday Night with Billy Crystal, The Comedian with De Niro,
The Aristocrats documentary, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
