Directed and co-written by Chloé Zhao, Hamnet is the story of the events in the life of highly regarded English playwright, William Shakespeare; a time that inspired his timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.
Paul Mescal, Jessie Buckley, Zac Wishart and Joe Alwyn star.
An emotional slog is what this looks like. Still, I’m interested to see a promising dramatisation of part of Shakespeare’s personal story. One that’s produced by Sam Mendes and Steven Spielberg, no less.
I’m going to re-familiarise myself with Hamlet, before watching this. Until then, a thought:
‘Art, beautiful art, that wondrous gift with the glorious power to help us heal in countless ways.’
Will you be watching?
James Lintern, James Lintern, Joe Alwyn, Justine Mitchell, Eva Wishart, Emily Watson, David Wilmot, Dainton AndersonLouisa Harland, Smylie Bradwell and Faith Delaney also star.

Happy Film Loving,

The acting is going to be impeccable, and this trailer has that epic look. Double win.
Double win, indeed. 🤓🥂
G, I think you nailed it with “emotional slog.” That being said, I suspect it will be very well done. It’s a possible view for me, but that view would wait for the home viewing option.
I fully understand, Bruce. As cinematic as some films look, they don’t scream, ‘big screen viewing.’ 🤓
I love the actors but…. maybe
I’m not mad at you. The slog looks serious. 🤓🥂
Yes for me.
I have a special place in my heart for Shakespeare due to a local actor who did a several interpretations of his plays on a local student radio that was broadcasting in the capital region. He faithfully retold the stories but with the modern vocabulary and slang of youth in the 80s. Through those radio dramas I learned why his stories are truly timeless.
Involvement of Spielberg definitely contributed to peaking my interest.
Wow! Yuri, that sounds like it must have been amazing. In England, he’s part of the national curriculum. Thank goodness the stories are timeless and true classics, because the language requires much effort to grasp.
Yes!!! I am all in for this one!😊
Great, Tiffany. It does look pretty good.
