Michelle Yeoh, Hunter Schafer and Dimitri Abold are the stars of new eight-episode series, Blade Runner 2099.
The action/sci-fi/mystery/thriller takes place fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049.
Interesting.
I’m happy that this will likely make me rewatch Blade Runner 2049 (2017). But I have to admit that my initial reaction upon first viewing the trailer wasn’t great. However, now that I’ve accepted that this will probably never be close to as good as director Denis Villeneuve’s version, I’ll let my general curiosity lead the way.
I like Yeoh, and I’m interested in comparing the visuals here to those in the 2017 film, which I enjoyed so very much.
What thoughts has this trailer conjured up for you?
Francis Lovehall, Tom Burke, Lewis Gribben, Johnny Harris, Wil Coban, Hugo Hamlet, Hassan Najib, Juliana Yazbeck, Allan Kneefel, Andrew Van Wilpe, Xueni Yang and Jenn Kirk also star.
Blade Runner 2099 Release Dates: November 25th, 2026 (US & UK)…
Happy Film Loving,

First time hearing of the series. This trailer didn’t do much for me either. I have BR2049 on dvd and have watched it many times. I think you’re right, best not to expect it to compare to the work of Denis V.
I love that you don’t need a reminder to rewatch 2049. 🤓🥂
<3 Cheers!
It is good to see Yeoh in the lead, but from the trailer I am feeling more of a mood than seeing anything I really want to see.
I like the way you expressed that. 🤓 It’s ‘a mood’, for sure. I’d like to be pleasantly surprised by the series, but we’ll see. It’s one of those that I may shy away from if I read a headline or two that aren’t especially positive post-release.
This isn’t quite a “must-watch.” We’ll have to see.
An accurate summary of my feelings, too. 🤓🥂 We’ll see.
i loved the original!
Good film, indeed. I remember watching it for the first time just a day before seeing Blade Runner 2049.
Honestly, I couldn’t care less about this. Blade Runner and 2049 are untouchable in my opinion.
I think I have to agree with you. I don’t know why you would want to mess with its legacy.
My guess is that it’s because there is often plenty of hope in the artist’s heart. 🤓
Understandable, and yes. 🤓🥂
I’m interested to see whether The “Replicants” are the heroes or the villains. And how audiences’ attitudes will affect that. I feel like there’s a lot more animosity towards AI today than there was in 2017 when 2049 was released. This might be the first time in the franchise where Replicants aren’t the hero.
Very interesting points, EF. Now I’m a little more intrigued. Fingers crossed we’ll find something to enjoy while watching it, if not everything.
