Directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, Novocaine is a new action/comedy/thriller about a man on a mission to save his kidnapped girlfriend. And, he has a superpower that those he has to fight to get her back have no idea about.

Jack Quaid, Ray Nicholson and Amber Midthunder star.

As this trailer played, I pictured so many young boys, in particular, finding Nate (Novocaine) an incredibly cool character. I feel similarly.

Nevertheless, I’ve actually watched a documentary about children born without the ability to feel pain. It may seem ‘super’ at first, but it’s quite perilous for them if they’re not properly supervised as they grow up.

I wonder if we’ll see a little of Nate (Novocaine’s) childhood. I know I want to.

The full trailer for one of the most intriguing teaser trailers of 2024 has arrived.

Starring Sophie Thatcher, Lukas Gage, Jack Quaid and Rupert Friend, new comedy/psychological thriller, Companion is directed by Drew Hancock.

It appears that my guess of ‘Humanoid/robot/A.I./ shenanigans‘ was an accurate one for what the teaser trailer released in October 2024 seemed to be alluding to.

Now that the general premise is clear, Companions is, indeed, a very promising thriller. A sign of our soon-to-be, if not our current times.

Will you be watching? I imagine it will be hard to resist, no?

From writer/director Drew Hancock, Companion is a brand new and very intriguing thriller starring Jack Quaid, Rupert Friend, Sophie Thatcher, and Lukas Gage.

Er…

I’m thinking humanoid, robot, AI shenanigans. But I can’t be sure since the plot is not yet confirmed.

May this be as refreshing as cinema desperately needs.

Harvey Guillén, Marc Menchaca, Megan Suri and Woody Fu also star.

Plus One is one of those ‘they’re definitely going to end up together but they just don’t know it yet’ movies.

Directed by Jeff Chan, Andrew Rhymer and starring Maya Erskine and Jack Quaid, the two leads play two friends who happen to be single during wedding season, and so they decide to go to the weddings they’ve been invited to as each other’s plus one.

I enjoyed the humour about all the things that often make weddings awkward and/or fun. Performance-wise, I found Plus One completely faultless. The chemistry between Erskine and Quaid was great, and I particularly enjoyed Erskine’s drunk acting/dancing and her character’s testing yet endearing charm.

I must confess that I had more fun with Plus One and the charming dialogue before the graveyard scene. A scene after which things became a little more serious and emotional. Overall though, I don’t regret watching Plus One because it has just the kind of charming quality I was after.
