In Little Pink House, Catherine Keener plays Susette Kelo, a small-town nurse turned reluctant leader of her working-class neighbours. Neighbours struggling to save their homes from political and corporate interests.

Based on a true story and written/directed by Courtney Balaker; Jeanne Tripplehorn, Aaron Douglas and Callum Keith Rennie also star.

This might be the first film I’ll watch with Keener in a leading role. As a Keener fan ever since The 40 Year-Old Virgin (2005), I want to see her do well.

Also, who doesn’t enjoy a good underdog story?

Unless (2016), Hannah Gross, Catherine Keener

In Unless, which stars Brendan Coyle, Hannah Gross and Catherine Keener, a writer (Keener) struggles with her daughter’s decision to drop out of college to do something very unexpectedly different.

Directed by Alan Gilsenan, Unless is based on Carol Shields’s acclaimed novel of the same name.

Keener is the main reason I’ll tune in. I also really want to know what’s going on with Gross’s character, Nora. I’d like to believe that she’s simply in the midst of social research, but probably not. What do you think?
