Jay Kelly (2025), George Clooney, Apple TV+

Jay Kelly, George Clooney, Adam Sandler and Laura Dern’s latest film is a comedy/drama about a famous movie star’s journey of self-discovery.

Directed and co-written by Noah Baumbach, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Emily Mortimer and Greta Gerwig are among the key cast.

Having heard that this movie was very well received at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, I hoped I’d be more enthused by this trailer than I am. I’ll certainly give it a chance because of my curiosity about the Clooney/Sandler dynamic.

The Midnight Sky (2020), George Clooney, Netflix

Read my spoiler-free movie review of The Midnight Sky (2020).

Directed by and starring George Clooney; The Midnight Sky is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi/drama about Augustine, a lonely scientist in the Arctic.

Augustine is on a race to stop Sully and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe.

Additional key cast includes Felicity Jones, Kyle Chandler, David Oyelowo and Sophie Rundle.

The music suggests an emotional film but the way Oyelowo asks: ‘Why is it so quiet?’ got me right in heart, and a little in the tear ducts.

I’ve actually been looking forward to a new Clooney movie for a while and the premise of this one is very interesting. Lastly, how disturbing is what happens at 1:38 in this trailer?

Ethan Peck, Miriam Shor, Demián Bichir, Tim Russ, Tiffany Boone, Edan Hayhurst, Lilja Nótt Þórarinsdóttir, Atli Oskar Fjalarsson, Tia Bannonn and Grant Crookes also star.
