IN THE GREY (2026): New Trailer Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, Rosamund Pike, Jason Wong, Eiza González…

In the Grey stars Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal as elite operatives tasked with stealing back a billion-dollar fortune, resulting in a deadly game of strategy, deception and survival.

Rosamund Pike, Jason Wong and Eiza González are among the key cast.

Like every Guy Ritchie movie, this trailer too immediately piqued my interest, thanks to the rhythm, dialogue, and music.

When it comes to my favourite performances by American actors in Ritchie movies, my favourite is Matthew McConaughey in The Gentlemen (2020), then Brad Pitt in Snatch (2000), Robert Downey Jr in Sherlock Holmes (2009), then Jake Gyllenhaal in The Covenant (2023). Perhaps In the Grey will be a second entry for Gyllenhaal.

What’s your favourite performance by an American actor in a Guy Ritchie film?

Emmett J. Scanlan, Fisher Stevens, Kristofer Hivju, Kojo Attah Carlos Bardem, Darrell D’Silva, Christian Ochoa Lavernia, Karlos Klaumannsmoller, Cory Douglas Campbell and Mohammed Al Turki, Gonzalo Bouza also star.

In the Grey Release Dates: May 15th, 2026 (US)…

THE COVENANT (2023): The Things I Liked…

Guy Ritchie and Jake Gyllenhaal’s latest action/thriller is the story of a local interpreter (Dar Salim) who goes above and beyond to ensure the safety of an injured American sergeant (Gyllenhaal).

As someone who doesn’t typically watch war films, for Ritchie, Gyllenhaal, and the promise of a thrilling chase sequence, a lady can make certain exceptions. Luckily, this exception is one I don’t regret, thanks to The Covenant‘s engaging story/dialogue and well-choreographed action sequences.

Ritchie’s film captures well the connection between the two men who find themselves in one life-or-death situation after another. We get to witness their challenging emotional and physical journeys as they travel and fight while surrounded and in enemy territory.

I admit that there was a point during the first fifteen minutes when I wanted the story to progress a tad faster. And later, when I wished the scenes where Gyllenhaal’s character spends a lot of time on the phone had been written/edited slightly differently. Still, besides these two relatively minor issues, I had fun and thoroughly enjoyed the ending.

Moving forward, I’m going to remember The Covenant for making me look at the name John in a whole new light. Shockingly, this new perspective has nothing to do with Gyllenhaal’s character being named John Kinly, but rather, the meaning of the name John as it’s explained in the movie.

The Covenant is a good war film, but one that’s not too gruesome, so, watch it if you’re curious.

WRATH OF MAN (2021): New Trailer From Guy Ritchie; Starring Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, Josh Hartnet,t Jeffrey Donovan…

Wrath of Man (2021), Jason Statham, MGM
Wrath of Man (2021), Jason Statham, MGM

Directed by Guy Ritchie, Wrath of Man stars Jason Statham, Josh Hartnett, Scott Eastwood and Jeffrey Donovan in an action/thriller about H.

From writers Ivan Atkinson and Nicolas Boukhrief, H is a cold and mysterious character working at a cash truck company. A company responsible for moving hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles every week.

Even though Ritchie isn’t the writer, I can’t wait to see his directorial style all over this. I already love the clip accompanied by exactly the right type of music when the shooting starts.

Statham and Ritchie back working together is great to see. If my memory serves me well, they last collaborated in my two favourite Ritchie movies: Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), plus Snatch (2000). Then there’s Hartnett, an actor I last saw in Oh, Lucy (2017), a fun, quirky movie.

Wrath of Man Release Dates: May 7th, 2021 (US); June 25th, 2021 (UK)…

THE GENTLEMEN (2020): New Trailer From Guy Ritchie, Starring Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell, Michelle Dockery…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of The Gentlemen (2019).

Guy Ritchie’s latest action/crime movie, The Gentlemen stars Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farell and Michelle Dockery.

It’s the England based story of a very British drug lord who tries to sell off his highly profitable empire to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires.

Ritchie is the director of two of my favourite British films, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) and Snatch (2000). So, of course, I’m watching this one!

The cast and story looks great. Then comes the cherry on top of rather posh British actors speaking in far less posh accents. Such fun!

Jeremy Strong, Henry Golding, Hugh Grant, Jason Wong, Brittany Ashworth, Christopher Evangelou and Eliot Sumner also star.

The Gentlemen Release Dates: January 1st, 2020 (UK), January 24th, 2020 (US)…

ALADDIN (2019): New Aladdin Trailer Featuring Will Smith As The Genie And Starring Naomi Scott, Mena Massoud…

Starring Will Smith, Naomi Scott, Mena Massoud and Billy Magnussen, finally, the new Aladdin trailer shows us what will smith will look and sound like as the famous genie.

Overall, I like this trailer and my favourite moment in it is the sight of Naomi Scott as Jasmine. What I can’t deny though is my immediate reaction after seeing Smith as the the genie.

An undeniable sense that a massive miscasting may have taken place definitely came over me. However, I’ve decided to ignore that feeling and wait to see how the film actually is.

I of course wish that my reaction was undoubtedly positive and filled with excitement – both for the entirety of the trailer and afterwards. Nevertheless, who knows, perhaps I’ll look back and wonder what I was worried about in the first place, once I’m watching director Guy Ritchie’s movie. He is the man behind my favourite British film of all time after all, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998).

Numan Acar, Kamil Lemieszewski, Nasim Pedrad, Marwan Kenzari and Navid Negahban also star.

Aladdin Release Dates: May 24th, 2019 (US & UK)…
