Black Christmas which stars Cary Elwes, Imogen Poots and Brittany O’Grady is a horror/mystery film about a group of college students who are stalked by a stranger during their Christmas break.

A remake of a 1974 horror movie of the same name, Black Christmas is co-written and directed by Sophia Takal.

At first I thought: ‘This looks a lot like Scream (1996);’ but luckily, by the end of the trailer (which revealed quite a lot), it’s clear that there seems to be more to this story.

On another note, is it just me or does the Christmas season release date of this movie feel a tad wrong? I mean, who wants to be scared around Christmas time? We’re all supposed to be busy being jolly, as clearly mandated by Mr. Claus, no?

Caleb Eberhardt, Simon Mead, Ben Black, Lily Donoghue and Aleyse Shannon also star.

New comedy The Art Of Self Defensestars Imogen Poots , Alessandro Nivola and Jesse Eisenberg

Directed by Riley Stearns it’s the story of Casey (Eisenberg) , a man who’s randomly attacked on the street and so begins a journey to learn self defense, with the help of a charismatic and mysterious Sensei.

The promise of comedy is why I’m interested and I definitely want to see Casey become less afraid. There’s also the fact that I already like Nivola’s character’s attitude. He reminds me quite a bit of Chris Messina’s Danny Castellano character in The Mindy Project.

Steve Terada, Phillip Andre Botello, Leland Orser, Josh Fadem, Elizabeth Howlett and Chris Lay also star.
