Kate Winslet, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton and Matthias Schoenaerts’s latest drama The Regime has a new trailer and it has grown on me since its release.

 Set in an invented Middle European autocracy and created by Will Tracy, we get to see the happenings within the walls of the palace, while an authoritarian regime unravels.

Thank goodness it seems that Winslet will appear in all the episodes of The Regime. I initially thought she’d appear in just one episode because that’s what it showed on IMDb on April 12th, 2023. It turns out they just hadn’t fully updated that key information yet.

I’m certainly excited to hear Winslet deliver more lines in that very specific accent. There’s also the seemingly inevitable scheming that’s afoot to unseat the chancellor. Bring on the dialogue-rich dramatics. I’m ready.

Not creepy and sinister at all, is it? 😁

Hugh Grant, Donald Sage Mackay and Guillaume Gallienne also star.

The Regime, (previously known as The Palace) is a new HBO mini-series that’s set in an invented Middle European autocracy.

Starring Kate Winslet, Martha Plimpton, Matthias Schoenaerts and Andrea Riseborough, the drama focuses on what’s going on within the walls of the palace, as an authoritarian regime is in the midst of unravelling.

Clearly, the Chancellor/dictator isn’t the most decent and likeable of human beings. That doesn’t mean I’m not more than a tad disappointed that according to IMDB, Winslet will only appear in one episode. Especially since witnessing the power dynamic between her character and that played by Plimpton is why I’m most intrigued.

Also, hearing the words ‘I do like‘ currently has me woohooing every time I replay this wonderful trailer. I’m telling myself that since this is an HBO production, I’ll eventually get over Winslet’s ‘cameo.’ Let’s see what the non-teaser trailer has to say when it’s finally released, hopefully soon.

Kate Winslet is the main reason I’ll be watching. I’m also curious about whether Wonder Wheel has what it takes to challenge the place of my favourite Woody Allen Movie, Blue Jasmine (2013). I’m thinking no. But we’ll see.

As a big fan of ‘acting queen’ Kate Winslet and the wonderful talents of Idris Elba, I can’t wait to see this; especially considering how very promising it looks in this trailer. I confess that my heart is pretty much aching already – not because I know how the movie ends, I have no idea – but because of all the very big and important plans both characters had at their intended destinations. It’s just a shame that they only had access to that rickety looking plane.

I can’t wait because I love ‘Lady Winslet’ That’s how I like to refer to my favourite actresses and generally any inspiring female. I’d say Lady Mirren too but she’s already a Dame, you see.

This movie  is definitely going to make some people cry. Not me though. (LIES!)
