BRIDGERTON – SEASON 3 (2024): PART 2: The Things I Liked…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Bridgerton – Season 3: Part 1 (2024).

I was forthcoming about my disappointment with part one of Bridgerton Season 3, the story of the love between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. Thankfully, I’m relieved to confirm that part two is better, even though I wouldn’t say that it makes up for everything that didn’t work well with the first part.

The episodes are more engaging, and everything left unresolved in part one is smartly concluded. There’s also a moment or two of moving dialogue. Specifically when Colin finally tells Penelope how he sees her.

Another highlight is all the gorgeous attire, particularly and surprisingly, the items worn by Colin and Anthony, plus Kate (Simone Ashley). I adored the colours and designs worn by Kate. Only the very best for the Viscountess, obviously.

It may be the case that when I rewatch season 3 in preparation for season 4 in a couple of years, I’ll be less irritated by the disappointment of part one. Especially since Bridgerton Season 2 certainly shone more brightly at the second viewing, when I rewatched it in between parts one and two of season 3, as an antidote.

Fingers crossed there’ll be no need to rewatch season two again to help erase a possible negative season 4 experience. And, considering all the story possibilities alluded to in the final episode of this season, something tells me that chances are, I have nothing to worry about, thanks to the new characters.

Have you watched part two of  Bridgerton Season 3 yet? What do you think?

BRIDGERTON – SEASON 3 (2024): Part 1, The Things I Liked…

Of all the elements I usually enjoy about Netflix’s Bridgeton, the first four episodes of season three have only delivered on two, at best.

The costume design and the general look and feel of the series are still mostly delightfully sumptuous and colourful. The dialogue remains fun in parts. I particularly enjoyed it whenever the ‘marriage-minded mamas’ were spoken about, and lines such as ‘Under what foreign sun did you apparently get so, sturdy?’ were delivered.

Overall, I have to admit that this instalment of Netflix’s hit series has felt less exciting, in part because the previous season came with at least two new and interesting central characters. It certainly doesn’t help matters that I never put Colin and Penelope on my list of favourite Bridgerton characters. Nor did I find them particularly charming.

As kind as Colin Bridgerton may be, his big brother Anthony is far more intriguing and fun to watch. Penelope might be sympathetic and relatable in several ways, but, unfortunately, (and this is likely my problem only), however, her apparent enjoyment of malicious gossip reminds me too much of a former talk show host by the name of Wendy Williams, a personality whose show I’ve never been a fan of.

Additionally, it’s arguably concerning that we’re four episodes into the season, and I’m not even sure I’m convinced that Colin and Penelope have adequate chemistry. Is the issue the less engaging love story, therefore, the writing? Or is it an inadequately charming and chemistry-lacking couple? It might also be me, again.

The other Bridgerton series characteristic I hope stands out more in the remaining four episodes due on June 13th, 2024, is the adaptation of popular modern music to fit the fantasy Regency era. I’ve recognised none of the music adapted for this season so far. That could also be because I don’t recognise any of the songs because I’m out of the loop.

Have you seen the first four episodes of Bridgerton season three? Perhaps, for you, the series has maintained its lustre, plus, Colin/Penelope are your favourite characters. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

BRIDGERTON – SEASON 3 (2024): New Trailer Starring Nicola Coughlan, Luke Newton, Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Julie Andrews…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Bridgerton – Season 3: Part 1 (2024).

The third instalment of the Bridgerton offspring’s love stories is soon upon us.

Starring Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton; this time the focus is on Colin Bridgerton and his relationship with long-time admirer and wallflower Penelope Featherington.

Penelope and Colin may not be my favourite Bridgerton characters, but I’ll watch because I try to finish things I start. Well, unless I have a very good reason not to. There’s always a chance that I’ll be very pleasantly surprised by how engaging the writing ends up being (one of the things I enjoyed about season 2), even though I’m not particularly gripped yet, based on this trailer.

Additionally, there are always the flowers of spring and colourful costumes to look forward to, plus the occasional appearance of my favourite characters, the queen Charlotte plus the viscount and his wife, of course.

There are still theoretically, at least five more Bridgerton seasons to go. Will you be watching this third instalment?

Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Julie Andrews, Bessie Carter, Polly Walker, Luke Thompson, Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, Claudia Jessie, Ruth Gemmell, Jessica Madsen and Hugh Sachs also star.

At the Bridgerton Season two World Premiere in London’s Tate Modern this week, there were many highlights to take in. Not least of all, the Bridgerton-inspired fashion show, venue decorations, and of course, interviews with key cast and creators.

The first season focused on the fourth Bridgerton child, Daphne Bridgerton, and her love story with the Duke of Hastings. The main focus of season two is the eldest Bridgerton child, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. Specifically his entrance into the marriage market, and the fun dynamic between the Viscount and the older Sharma sister, Kate (Simone Ashley).

Having seen episode one of season two, I’m almost certain that the undeniable chemistry and fun dialogue between Anthony and Kate will be the main highlight.

No doubt the costumes, music, romance and humour will hold my attention. But, Anthony and Kate’s exchanges did take me back to Casino Royale (2006), specifically James Bond and Vesper Lynd’s conversation on the Eurostar.

Let’s hope that the episodes that follow are only more and more engaging, come Friday, March 25th, 2022.

Are you looking forward to this promising new season? I know I’m ready to be pleasantly surprised.
