Directed and co-written by Chloé Zhao, Hamnet is the story of the events in the life of highly regarded English playwright, William Shakespeare; a time that inspired his timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.

Paul Mescal, Jessie Buckley, Zac Wishart and Joe Alwyn star.

An emotional slog is what this looks like. Still, I’m interested to see a promising dramatisation of part of Shakespeare’s personal story. One that’s produced by Sam Mendes and Steven Spielberg, no less.

I’m going to re-familiarise myself with Hamlet, before watching this. Until then, a thought:

‘Art, beautiful art, that wondrous gift with the glorious power to help us heal in countless ways.’

Will you be watching?

Directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh, All Is True is a new drama about the last days of celebrated  playwright William Shakespeare.

Something tells me that ‘epic’ isn’t the word for this production, but I rather like Branagh and definitely appreciate Shakespeare, even though his words take extra time to understand in these here modern times.

MACBETH (2015): New Trailer Starring Michael Fassbender & Marion Cotillard

Macbeth (2015), Marion Cotillard
Macbeth (2015), Marion Cotillard

Having grown up mostly in England, a place where you learn about William Shakespeare and at least one of his great plays, including Macbeth, I wish I could say that I know the story of of the Scottish Duke very well. In reality, I’m more aware of the name Macbeth than the story of Macbeth.

Just as well then that a mighty good looking film, starring two of my favourite acting greats is due for release next month. Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard are the stars of of director Justin Kurzel’s adaptation.

I can’t wait to take in all the glorious cinematography. if this trailer is anything to go by, the film is going to be visually stunning.

David Thewlis, Elizabeth Debicki and Paddy Considine also star.

Release Dates: October 2nd (U.S. & U.K.)
