In Captain Underpants – The First Epic Movie, Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch are the voices of two mischievous elementary school kids.

Directed by David Soren and based on the popular books by Dave Pilkey, the two very naughty fourth graders hypnotise their principal into becoming their comic book creation, Captain Underpants.

I’m officially intrigued. Yet,  the remaining question is, how distracting will it be that Kevin Hart is voicing a fourth-grader when he generally sounds like a real-life adult? Hopefully, the answer is not at all, at least eventually.

Nick Kroll, Jordan Peele and Kristen Schaal also star.

SMALL CRIMES (2017): New Trailer From Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gary Cole, Macon Blair…

Small Crimes (2017), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gary Cole and Macon Blair’s new E.L. Katz-directed movie, Small Crimes, is all about a disgraced former cop who just got out of jail.

He returns home looking for redemption, but things don’t quite go according to plan.

I’m actually not that sure about this trailer. But I am a fan of  ‘that one from Game Of Thrones‘ (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Gary Cole. The latter, whose work I’ve enjoyed in many of my favourite comedy/drama films and TV shows. To name just a few, Pineapple Express (2008), VEEP (2012) and The Good Wife (2009).

Small Crimes Release Dates: April 28th, 2017 (US)…

THE WIZARD OF LIES (2017): New Trailer For Bernie Madoff Movie Starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hank Azaria, Alessandro Nivola…

The Wizzard Of Lies (2017), Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hank Azaria and Alessandro Nivola are the stars of The Wizard of Lies, an HBO movie about Bernie Madoff and his Ponzi scheme. A scheme specifically known as the largest financial fraud in United States history.

Of course, I’ll be tuning in! De Niro is as watchable as ever, I’m excited to see Michelle Pfeiffer in a film again, and the story is so very intriguing. Even more so because I didn’t really pay close attention to the news when Madoff was all over it back in 2008.

I’m so ready for a good drama like this one.

The Wizard of Lies is directed by Barry Levinson.

EARLY MAN (2017): New Trailer From Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne, Maisie Williams…

Early Man (2018)
Early Man (2018)

Starring Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne and Maisie Williams, Early Man tells the story of how one plucky caveman unites his tribe against a mighty enemy.

Directed by Nick Park, this animation/comedy/adventure is set during the time of the dinosaurs and woolly mammoths.

I absolutely loved Chicken Run (2000). As such, I would adore it if this were as good, if not better. Especially since the same people are behind both films. Fingers, toes and everything crossed.

Early Man Release Dates: January 26th, 2018 (UK)…

SING (2016): The Thing I Liked…

Sing (2016), Singing & Dancing Pigs
Sing (2016), Singing & Dancing Pigs

Besides the fun clips in the trailer, I found Sing to be, unfortunately, mostly forgettable. The story centres around the numerous characters involved in a singing competition; the success of which will give the organiser a chance to save his failing theatre.

I was moved and amused in parts, but I still didn’t thoroughly enjoy Sing because I didn’t find the story and most of the characters, especially, entertaining or interesting. I’m sure that how stereotypical most of them are has something to do with it.

Furthermore, I’m the person who usually doesn’t enjoy watching televised singing competitions. Yet, I wanted to see this because the trailer looked great. Admittedly, there’s also a part of me that didn’t buy into McConaughey’s voice and or his performance as the Koala.

The main highlight about Sing, for me, has nothing to do with the music. I loved the mommy piggy (Reese Witherspoon) and her ingenuity when no one else was available to take care of her piglets. I also adore her performance partner, another cute piggy. You know, the one in the red sequinned leotard and gold sequinned sweatsuit that you fell in love with, in the trailers.

You’ll very likely have a better time watching Sing if you enjoy singing competitions. If you’re not that person, I hope you like it anyway, should you decide to tune in.
