Troop Zero, a new comedy/drama about a misfit girl named Christmas who has dreams of life in outer space stars Mckenna Grace, Allison Janney, Viola Davis and Jim Gaffigan.

Directed by  Bert & Bertie; Troop Zero is set during 1977 in rural Georgia where a competition offers Christmas the chance to be recorded on NASA’s Golden Record. And so so begins the recruitment of Troop Zero, a makeshift group of Birdie Scouts.

I’m interested because it’s Janney, Davis, and there’s humour. I’m perhaps even more intrigued since this looks like a far less emotionally taxing role for Davis than her usual. I wonder if she’ll cry at all. Maybe just a single tear. Maybe.

Edi Patterson, Mike Epps, Charlie Shotwell, Ashley Brooke, Maureen Brennan, Rebecca Chulew, Johanna Colón, Milan Ray, Elton LeBlanc, Kenneth Wayne Bradley and Eric Bell Jr. also star.
