Johnny Depp, Bill Nighy and Hiroyuki Sanada are the stars of new drama Minamata. The story of war photographer W. Eugene Smith (Depp) and his journey back to Japan to document the devastating effect of mercury poisoning on the citizens of Minamata, Kumamoto, Japan.
Directed by Andrew Levitas; additional key cast includes Tadanobu Asano, Katherine Jenkins and Jun Kunimura.
As a big Jonny Depp fan, I cannot wait to see this. Even more so since this is one of his more down to earth roles. I’m also in for the kindness and to, at the very least, see that the companies responsible are being less careless with human life.
Lily Robinson, Ryô Kase, Minami, Masayoshi Haneda, Akiko Iwase and Kenta Ogawa also star.

I have stories of a Life Photographer who was in Korea with my father-in law. Compelling.
Sounds interesting indeed. I’ve been to Seoul and didn’t see anything too out of the ordinary. But then I was visiting friends and wasn’t exactly looking.
