New comedy/drama Rental Family has Brendan Fraser as an American actor in Tokyo. One struggling to find purpose, until he lands an unusual gig.
I’m not surprised this movie exists, especially after watching The Japanese Man Who Gets Paid to Do Nothing.
I’m watching to see the positive impact Fraser’s character will have on those who hire him. Can you imagine yourself in such a role?
Directed and co-written by Hikari, additional key cast includes Mari Yamamoto, Takehiro Hira, Nihi, Paolo Andrea Di Pietro and Akira Emoto.
Rental Family Release Dates: November 21st, 2025 (2025); January 9th, 2026 (UK)…
Happy Film Loving,

Japan is such an interesting place.
For sure. I don’t love how busy Tokyo is, but it’s still amazing and like nowhere else. 🤓
Looks like one where you need the kleenex nearby. Looking forward to seeing Fraser again.
Absolutely! It should be moving, indeed. Also looking forward to ‘spending some time’ in Japan. 🤓
🙂
I saw this trailer awhile back and it has intrigued me, G. This one is on my radar not only because of the premise, but because of Fraser as well. He might knock this role out of the park.
I agree, Fraser will be great in this. I’m ready to watch the stories play out right now.
Japan culture has always intrigued, excited, scared and fascinated me. This looks like an interesting peek into it.
Well-expressed, Uri. I think Japan does that for many people. No wonder they’re currently experiencing issues due to a major influx of tourists in recent years.
Interesting.
Indeed. 🤓
