Directed by Anthony Maras, Pressure is a new drama/history/thriller set during the tense 72 hours before D-Day, history’s largest seaborne invasion, marking the start of Western Europe’s liberation from Nazi control.

Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Andrew Scott, Damian Lewis and Chris Messina are among the key cast.

When you don’t want to watch a war movie, but the acting power involved is so strong, you may just have to. That’s where I am right now.

Admittedly, part of what’s swaying me to see this is how much I loved Andrew Scott’s small role but mighty performance in Sam Mendes’s 1917 (2019). His part in Pressure is far from small, and that’s what’s so exciting about it; he has more screen time to delight and move us with his performance.

What is your appetite like for this particular war movie?

Henry Ashton, Con O’Neill, Tamsin Topolski, Daniel Quinn Toye, Wil Coban, Michael Benz, Harrison Osterfield, Richard Clothier, Joshua Hill, Charles Camrose and Patrick Flannery also star.

New comedy/drama Rental Family has Brendan Fraser as an American actor in Tokyo. One struggling to find purpose, until he lands an unusual gig.

I’m not surprised this movie exists, especially after watching The Japanese Man Who Gets Paid to Do Nothing.

I’m watching to see the positive impact Fraser’s character will have on those who hire him. Can you imagine yourself in such a role?

Director Steven Soderbergh’s latest crime/mystery/drama, No Sudden Move, stars Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Matt Damon and Brendan Fraser.

The story follows a group of criminals brought together under mysterious circumstances. When their simple job goes sideways, they have to work together to uncover what’s really going on.

It’s great how this trailer slowly reveals one brilliant actor after another; making it near impossible to decide who I’m most excited to see.

I’m curious about how much like an early Guy Ritchie movie (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) / Snatch (2000) this Soderbergh film ends up being.

As for a favourite bit of dialogue so far…

‘I’m going to punch you now, sir. I’m punching you. This is going to be a punch.’

Noah Jupe, David Harbour, Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta, Julia Fox, Frankie Shaw, Bill Duke, Craig muMs Grant, Kieran Culkin, Amy Seimetz and Lauren Rys Martin also star.
