PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 (2026): New Trailer From Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Joey King, Lee Pace…

In Practical Magic 2, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as two witch sisters cursed with never finding lasting love.

This long-awaited sequel to Practical Magic (1998) has the sisters on a mission to confront dark secrets and sacrifice for each other in an attempt to change their fates.

Directed by Susanne Bier, additional key cast includes Dianne Wiest, Maisie Williams, Stockard Channing and Liz Kingsman.

I don’t remember whether or not I’ve watched Practical Magic, the original film, but I’ll happily do it so I can take in the fun that this new sequel seems to promise.

The premise is quite compelling. Naturally, I’ll be wanting to see the curse lifted and to watch Bullock and Kidman have fun performing together.

Have you seen the 1998 Practical Magic?

Xolo Maridueña, Solly McLeod, John Polivka, Daniel Eghan, Tammy Appenzellar, Christopher Moore and Matthew Charlery-Smith also star.

THE DOG STARS (2026): New Trailer From Ridley Scott, Starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley…

Based on Peter Heller’s bestselling novel of the same name, post-apocalyptic sci-fi /action/adventure The Dog Stars is the latest from Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley.

Directed by Ridley Scott, and set in a world where humanity has been wiped out by a virus, survivors are confronted with new challenges, including roaming scavengers.

I like how the trailer ramps up towards the end.

How will this differ from other post-apocalyptic stories? That’s what I’m curious about. The performances will be great. I’m just not sure that I’ll hurry to see it, considering the state of world affairs in 2026, and my sensitive disposition.

Are you familiar with Heller’s novel? How much does this film adaptation appeal to you?

Guy Pearce, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong, Sebastian Rokison-Woodall, and Alara-Star Khan also star.

FOCKER IN-LAW (2026): New Trailer From Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Ariana Grande…

Directed by John Hamburg, Focker In-Law is the fourth instalment of a comedy film series that began with Ben Stiller’s comedy hit Meet the Parents (2000).

Starring Robert De Niro, Stiller and Ariana Grande, more family chaos ensues when a strong-willed future in-law is introduced to the Focker family, and now it’s Greg’s turn to be overbearing.

Meet the Parents is one of my happy movie memories. That said, let’s say I’m hoping for the best with this one.

So far, what makes me happiest about this trailer is De Niro’s strong arms at 0:54 seconds. Purely because he seems to be taking good care of himself, which means one of my favourite actors will be around for some time yet.

What are you thinking about this release?

Beanie Feldstein, Owen Wilson, Skyler Gisondo, Teri Polo, Eduardo Franco, Blythe Danner, Prosper Bellizia and Richard Adams also star.

Focker In-Law Release Dates: November 25th, (US & UK)…

LOVE STORY – JOHN F. KENNEDY JR. & CAROLYN BESSETTE (2026): The Things I Liked…

A good watch overall is how I feel about Love Story – John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, a nine-part series about one of the most iconic couples of the 1990s.

It’s just aspects of the final two or three episodes that proved a little tedious and taxing, largely because they focus on the couple at their most miserable. That stretch also made me feel the series did not need to be nine episodes long. Eight could have been enough. Furthermore, I didn’t like the frequent cuts to black after key scenes, even though I understand why that choice was made.

Starring Paul Anthony Kelly, Sarah Pidgeon, Alessandro Nivola, and Naomi Watts, the cast delivers strong performances throughout. Love Story may have lost some of its appeal for me towards the end, but thankfully, I found plenty to enjoy in the earlier episodes.

In particular, the look and feel of the series is a visual feast, especially for anyone who appreciates the style, elegance, and muted colour palette of the 1990s, very much in the spirit of Calvin Klein.

From the set design to the costumes, and even the general attractiveness of the cast, there were moments when I found myself thinking, ‘How is one supposed to focus on the story with this much beauty on display?’

Luckily, despite the distractions, the story and performances proved strong enough, and the soundtrack well chosen enough, to keep me engaged overall.

Two further highlights include Alessandro Nivola’s magnetic performance as Calvin Klein, and this line:

Success isn’t all that triumphant when it’s expected of you.

Have you also made time for Love Story? What are your thoughts?

MUTINY (2026): New Trailer Starring Jason Statham, Annabelle Wallis, Ramon Tikaram…

Directed by Jean-François Richet, Jason Statham’s latest action/thriller is Mutiny.

Statham plays Cole Reed, a man on the run and working to uncover an international conspiracy, after being set up to take the fall for his billionaire boss’s murder.

I fancy a serving of giving the bad guys a taste of their own medicine, and vengeance, of course. Always movie vengeance.

As I watched this trailer, I thought of what I’d say to Statham if I ever met him. I haven’t watched most of his films, but I do love the ones I’ve seen, namely, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Snatch (2000) and Spy (2015). I’d say, ‘Thank you for giving the people what they want.

Also, Wrath of Man (2021) keeps coming up as a Statham film I have to see. Do you have a Statham favourite?

Adrian Lester, Arnas Fedaravicius, Roland Møller, Jason Wong, Lee Charles, Steven Blades, Ben Cartwright, Chaneil Kular, Tom Christian and Rumi Sutton also star.

Mutiny Release Dates: August 21st, 2026 (US & UK)…
