New action/crime/thriller, Animals, has Ben Affleck as Mark Kimball, a mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped. Kimball and his wife (Kerry Washington) resort to extreme measures to pay the ransom, leading to their dark secrets being aired.
With Affleck also in the director’s seat, Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Matt Gerald and Ray Fisher are among the key cast.
The story is intriguing enough, and hopefully everything works out for the Kimball family. But mostly, I just want to see Washington and Affleck performing together.
I’m also looking forward to the next trailer, which I imagine will feature dialogue, not that I missed it here, necessarily.
Luis Gerardo Méndez, Adriana Paz, Taylor Cooper, Chris Gann, Christopher Woodley, Robert Gatewood, Mark Kassen, George Todd McLachlan and David King also star.

It does seem like a well executed ransom drama, a crime thriller subgenre that is not very diverse. Maybe this one does something different and Anderson is always interesting to watch.
Yikes! The trailer looks intense, but might be watchable.
