JURASSIC WORLD – REBIRTH (2025): The Things I Liked…

I’m not a big enough fan of the Jurassic World films to have a favourite, but I did enjoy Jurassic World Rebirth. The biggest highlight for me was Scarlett Johansson as the leader in charge of keeping everyone physically safe.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, this instalment of the Jurassic World franchise is a movie that proved most exciting in the last third. The scares, monster special effects, and the action sequence were good. The latter, even more so whenever Johansson was at the centre of it all in her more than capable mercenary mode.

Based on the trailers, I’d expected the dialogue in Jurassic World Rebirth to be memorable. Yet, outside of Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey’s) lines about intelligence, which I enjoyed quite a bit, I’d classify the dialogue in Edwards’s film as okay to good enough. My classification of the directing and story/script is similar.

I must admit that Bailey’s American accent was a tad spoty in parts. But, thankfully, nothing like Don Cheadle in Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), where the Cockney accent is butchered/ obliterated like never before. I tried to find a clip to share here, but YouTube sadly did not deliver.

As for the all-important (to me) question that no one asked about: As stories about humans going where they don’t belong, into jungles occupied by monsters, do I like Jurassic World – Rebirth or Kong – Skull Island (2017) more? It’s simple. Which one stars Tom Hiddleston?

Watch Jurassic World Rebirth if you’re curious. It is quite the entertaining summer blockbuster.

The latest trailer for the action/adventure/sci-fi film from director Joachim Rønning is here.

Tron Ares is the title, and Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson, Greta Lee, plus Jared Leto are the stars of a story about a highly sophisticated program named Ares.

I’m more than ready for all the beautiful red visuals in this movie. So much so that how promising the story and the action sequences look feels like a bonus.

Does this second trailer have you excited too?

Jodie Turner-Smith, Jeff Bridges, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Arturo Castro, Hasan Minhaj, Shalyn Ferdinand, Jason Tremblay, Brad Harder, Kenneth Seto Tynan, Cameron Park, Zahra Alani and Jay Durant also star.

THE CAT IN THE HAT (2026): New Trailer Starring Bill Hader, Giancarlo Esposito, Matt Berry…

Mischief and Mayhem is the order of the day with The Cat in the Hat, the new animated/comedy/adventure starring Giancarlo Esposito, Bill Hader and Matt Berry.

The Cat in the Hat is one of those children’s books/stories that I know very little about, except the look of the hat said cat chooses to wear. However, I am very ready to let this movie be my education.

In addition to learning more about why the stories are so popular, I’m very curious about the various switches in animation style in this trailer. Did you notice that too?

How close to your heart is The Cat in the Hat?

America Ferrera, Quinta Brunson, Xochitl Gomez, Tituss Burgess, Bowen Yang, Paula Pell and Tiago Martinez also star.

The Cat in the Hat Release Dates: February 27th, 2026 (US & UK)…

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE (1996): The Things I Liked…

Mission: Impossible (1996), Tom Cruise, Paramount Pictures
Mission: Impossible (1996), Tom Cruise, Paramount Pictures

Mission: Impossible (1996) is one of those films I thought I’d watched long ago. However, when I sat down to see it at the weekend, I realised I may have thought I’d seen it, when all I’d experienced many times over the years was the image of Tom Cruise at the end of a wire in the film’s most iconic scene.

It’s no wonder the Mission: Impossible Franchise has 7 more films after the first 1996 instalment starring Cruise, Ving Rhames, Jon Voight and Emmanuelle Béart. It is an impressive action/thriller after all. One that follows Ethan Hunt (Cruise), an American agent falsely suspected of disloyalty. Naturally, Hunt immediately gets to work to expose the real traitorous entity.

In addition to that X factor that Cruise, especially, and his talented castmates bring to the film – Vanessa Redgrave being a particular highlight, the stunts and action in director Brian De Palma’s Mission: Impossible are the most memorable events of the movie. the kind of feats that have no doubt inspired many action/thriller filmmakers to raise their game.

Truth be told, I took a break from the Mission: Impossible franchise after Mission: ImpossibleFallout (2015), because I didn’t fully love that instalment.

Now, however, I’m ready to get back into it again. I’m picking it up from Mission: ImpossibleDead Reckoning Part One (2023). I hear that part 2 (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025) is worth it, and I’d hate to miss out.

How big of an M:I fan are you? I hear that spinoffs and sequels may come without Cruise in the lead role. Whoever gets the part will surely have plenty to live up to.

JURASSIC WORLD – REBIRTH (2025): Jonathan Bailey, Scarlett Johansson, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of Jurassic World – Rebirth (2025).

Directed by Gareth Edwards and set five years after Jurassic World Dominion (2022), Jurassic World Rebirth is the next instalment in the Jurassic Park movie franchise.

Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali and Rupert Friend, the time is coming for a mission to extract DNA for a groundbreaking medical breakthrough.

We put ourselves in a place where we don’t belong. Survival is a long shot.’

It would seem I already have my favourite line in a movie that hasn’t yet been released. I like the delivery and the actor saying the words. Words that remind me of what people say about those who kick beehives. I’ll do my best to prevent schadenfreude from taking over when death inevitably comes to at least one of the people ‘disturbing’ the dinosaurs.

Generally speaking, is it me, or does the dialogue seem rather promising? In fact, it all looks rather good, doesn’t it? The music, visual effects, acting, all of it.

Bechir Sylvain, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda and Ed Skrein also star.

Jurassic World Rebirth Release Dates: July 2nd, 2025 (US & UK)…
