KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON (2023): New Trailer From Martin Scorsese, Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons…

A historical crime/drama set in the 1920s is the latest from Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Killers of the Flower Moon focuses on the relationship between the United States and its indigenous people, especially after members of the Osage tribe are mysteriously murdered, leading to an investigation involving F.B.I director J. Edgar Hoover.

I’ll start by addressing the humongous elephant in the room, following the above potentially confusing introductory paragraphs. Killers of the Flower Moon will not feature Dicaprio reprising his role as Hoover, as per the 2011 film, J. Edgar. He’s playing Ernest Burkhart and only Ernest Burkhart.

Now that we’ve cleared that up, and my giggles have dissipated, I’m intrigued by the smarts referred to at 0:22 in this trailer. I’m also very curious to see the evolution of Dicaprio and Gladstone’s characters.

Dark history is certainly what we’re in for with this one. As such, the question is, will you be ready to see this story told by such brilliant filmmakers? If so, how are you feeling about sitting through the 3.26-hour run time?

Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow, Cara Jade Myers, Jillian Dion, Jason Isbell, Tantoo Cardinal, Brendan Fraser, Janae Collins, William Belleau, Sturgill Simpson, Louis Cancelmi, Jason Isbell and Scott Shepherd also star

Killers of the Flower Moon Release Dates: October 6th, 2023 (US); October 20th, 2023, UK…

DELETE (2023): The Things I Liked…

Delete (2023), Ice Natara, Netflix
Delete (2023), Ice Natara, Netflix

There are some good things about new Netflix drama/thriller Delete. The first one is the premise; what happens when people in tricky situations get their hands on a camera that can delete others to the point that they cease to exist?

The second positive about Delete is that it’s generally well-acted. I especially enjoyed watching the actresses in the show do their thing, particularly Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying, who plays Orn. The third highlight is the unexpected turns the story takes. The kind that made the show more watchable, particularly since I had thought about quitting at a point or two.

The pacing and editing are what I found most annoying about the series. I felt forced to fast-forward several times because what was happening on-screen in certain scenes felt redundant. For example, I consider the part that shows how Aim and Lilly met a total waste of time, especially since it reveals nothing new.

In fairness, the above scene may have revealed something, but I was so irritated by such a dull, unnecessary scene that I had to fast-forward past the tedium. An additional editing issue is the fact that far too many shots lingered for longer than they needed to. I got the gist at three seconds in – and yet the camera had to point for at least six more seconds? Nonsense!

I’ve considered that maybe my appetite for suspense isn’t what it used to be. Could that be it?

Even with all the above issues, I’d give Delete another chance if season two happens. If everything that irks me about the show is addressed, including the sometimes not-so-great injury makeup. There is also episode eight, a finale that poses more questions than it answers, and the oh-so-chilling final fifteen minutes.

With an additional key cast that includes Ice Natara and Nat Kitcharit; try Delete for yourself if you’re curious. It’s far from perfect, but you may have a lot more patience than I do.

EXTRACTION 2 (2023): The Things I Liked…

Extraction 2 (2023), Chris Hemsworth, Netflix
Extraction 2 (2023), Chris Hemsworth, Netflix

If you enjoyed the action movie antics of black market mercenary Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) in Extraction (2020), it’s unlikely that Extraction 2 will disappoint much. If at all.

The action is just as unrelenting, which is mostly a positive thing. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself relieved that you have the ability to hit the pause button to catch your breath, should you need to.

Generally speaking, I had a good time watching Extraction 2, even with the uninspiring use of the ‘unattended phone’ storytelling trope that irked me, due to the seemingly tired and basic execution. I especially loved the welcome cast addition of a much-loved British actor. In otherwords, if I didn’t alreday have sufficient reason to look forward to a third instalment, I certainly do now. There’s even a chance I could enjoy Extraction 3 just as much as the first – and possibly more than the second.

Director Sam Hargrave’s film is undoubtedly watchable, regardless of the fact that it did not quite deliver on the excitement level its predecessor was able to achieve. Perhaps because to me, India is a much more exciting location. Additionally, Extraction 2 seems to have far less, if any of the noticeably impressive camera work that helped make the first movie especially memorable.

By the end of Extraction 2, you will finally know what happened with Tyler’s son. And if your imagination is as overactive as mine, you might also begin picturing all the various ways the aforementioned much-loved British actor could contribute further to the franchise. I mean, the two of them have such incredible chemistry!

Watch Extraction 2 if you enjoyed the first one. You might even prefer it to Extraction

PARADISE (2023) New Trailer From Director Boris Kunz, Starring Kostja Ullmann, Numan Acar, Iris Berben, Marlene Tanczik…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Paradise (2023).

I wasn’t sure about the new trailer for Paradise, Netflix’s latest action/sci-fi/thriller until approximately 30 seconds in. I blame that on initially just watching the action instead of also reading the text so I understood what was happening.

It’s certainly not a new concept, the idea that youth can be purchased. However, the catch this time is that the cost is far greater than just money.

I’m now super curious about how much detail the ‘science’ of it will reveal. For example, does the donor have to be super healthy? What if said donor is susceptible to a specific illness at some point in the future. Will the recipient of the donation also become susceptible? Also, the general question of how much time is enough comes to mind.

Something tells me I may be expecting too much from Paradise. Time to scale back my expectations. After all. This is not a documentary.

Does Paradise have your mind full of questions, too? And how much of that curiosity is about how wonderful it would be to snatch another person’s youth? Kidding!

Lorna Ishema, Numan Acar, Kostja Ullmann, Iris Berben, Marlene Tanczik, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen and Diana Krueger are among the key cast.

DELETE (2023): New Trailer Starring Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying, Nat Kitcharit and Duangjai Hiransri…

Read my spoiler-free movie review of  Delete (2023).

This is one of those creations that is best learned about via the trailer rather than a synopsis. So, without further ado, below is the trailer for Delete, the next new and compelling Netflix series starring Thai actors Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying, Duangjai Hiransri and Nat Kitcharit.

I’m feeling equally intrigued and uneasy after understanding the premise. And certainly hopeful that all the questions running through my mind right now, including the ones I don’t even know to ask yet are answered in the best way upon release. No pressure!

Delete Release Date: June 28th, 2023, Netflix
